Favorites
Book:
My favorite book is The Journey to the Center of the Earth written by Jules Verne. I not sure why, but this book just caught my attention while I was walking through my school library. The book is amazingly written and kept me drawn in throughout the book. Reading the book opened me up to many other classic books as well. Because of The Journey to the Center of the Earth, I’ve become more open minded to old books which I wouldn’t even think about reading in the past. Even though I’ve read that book over twelve times, I still love reading it.
Artist:
This is a very hard one. I cannot choose a favorite artists or even a favorite style of art. There are too many variations and people to choose from and it just wouldn’t be fair to choose just one. I love all forms of art and artists. Tattoo artists, painters, musician, etc. There are just too many to choose a favorite, therefore, for this topic, I am undecided.
Song:
My favorite song is also very difficult to choose. I listen to so many genres and listen to so many different songs. But, if I had to choose one, it would be Mad World. The lyrics in this song just seem to call out to me and describe me very well. “Hello teacher tell me what’s my lesson, look right through me, look right through me.” That describes my school life perfectly. This song is very much like a theme song to me and a song I can’t stop listening to.
Band:
To be perfectly honest, I have no favorite band. There is no band in my iPod, or in my vast CD case that I love more than any other. I listen to everything from Country, to Rock, to Opera. It’s impossible for me to choose a band because I listen to so many.
TV Show:
Without a doubt, Mythbusters. I love watching people use science to prove or disprove theories or myths. It’s always very fun to watch and the dry humor in the show is a plus and I find myself laughing more than I should be. It’s also entertaining to look at how they always manage to add an explosion into every episode.
Movie:
Star Wars, A New Hope. I first saw this movie when I was two years old. Ever since then, Star Wars has been a favorite of mine. I have every color light saber, coloring books, comic books, action figures, posters, and costumes. When I was a little girl, I loved Star Wars so much that I mistaked Chewbacca at DisneyWorld for my dad, while I was scared of Minnie and Mickey and so forth. I watch at least one of the Star Wars movie every week. I’m even doing a speech on Star Wars for my Speech and Debate team. I love Star Wars.
Store:
Borders. I love reading so much. I can spend weeks in that store if I was able too. I’m a bookworm to put it blankly. If I find a book I haven’t read, I will devour it until I am satisfied, which usually isn’t until I’m done reading. Borders is just a block from my house and I go there whenever I can and hang around, so much that the employees know me by name and schedule.
Opinions
Abortion:
I’m on the fence for Abortions. I would like them not to happen because I would rather a child live with an adoptive family if the mother doesn’t want him or her than have the mother kill the baby. But, I think Abortions are necessary for some people, like those who are having too many complications with their pregnancy and need to get rid of the baby or they will face death themselves. I cannot say Abortion is good or bad because the pros and cons all balance out.
Teen Pregnancy:
Where I live, Teen Pregnancy is extremely high. I myself f am a virgin and plan to stay that way until I am at least 20, but for some reason, because of the status quo you could say, some people think that in order to be cool or popular you need to have sex. Some have it protected and some don’t. I personally think that if there were more extra curricular activities, then maybe Teen Pregnancy would decrease because there wouldn’t be enough time to go and get laid.
Media:
I don’t like the Media. The way I see it, the Media is to blame for many eating disorders and the growing depression rate of teens and young adults. The Media makes you think that in order to be pretty or loved you need to be a size zero, blonde and pretty. Girls like me with a…voluptuous body and brown hair can be seen as unpretty by the Media. I get tired of seeing fake people who are photoshopped to look impossibly pretty and watching other girls try to achieve that same fake look and fall into depression because they can’t and see themselves as unpretty.
Pornography
My father and I had a talk about this recently. He knows I am bisexual and offered to let me have is old Playboy magazines. When I asked why, he said, “Because, even though they are naked, it’s art.” And that’s how I view Pornography. It’s just like a photo shoot, but without clothes. If a woman is so confident in her body to allow people to take pictures of her and put them in magazines for the world to see, then I say, go ahead. If you don’t want to look at it, then don’t. Even Pornographic movies are art, except they still have no clothes and the budget is a little tighter, it still has a Director and Producers and everything else art has.
Vegetarian
I myself am a Vegetarian, both out of health reasons and other reasons. Being a Vegetarian is a lot of work, but I don’t mind. I have energy, I haven’t gotten sick with a cold or anything since I stopped eating meat, and I have met some pretty cool people. Being Vegetarian doesn’t mean I’ll go around yelling at you for eating meat, but it does mean I am teased for it. It’s difficult to tell people your Vegetarian in High School because there are those who love to make fun of you and hide steaks in your locker… I know from experience.
Gay Rights
This is a heavy topic for me. My brother is gay, and over half of my friends are gay or lesbian. I believe Gays should have the same rights we give everyone else in America. My brother moved here from Australia and he said something to me that I cannot forget, “If this is the land of the free, then why am I not free to marry who I love?” I couldn’t answer him. I love my brother and wish he could get married to the love of his life, my best friend. Some people just don’t see that Gays are people and deserve to marry whoever they want to. If you can marry a pig in some states, then why can’t you marry a human of the same gender?
Religion
I have not much to criticize about Religion. I myself am Wiccan and I believe every religion has merit. I think people should follow their own paths of enlightenment. I could care less if you an Atheist, Satanist, Catholic, or anything else. Just I believe what I believe, you can believe as well.
Stereotypes.
Stereotypes. Where I live, no matter who you are, or what you look like, people love to put you into stereotypes. Even if you are nothing like what the stereotype states you are. I’ve known people who have nearly no self esteem because of the way people treat them because of the social label placed on their foreheads. Stereotyping is terrible in the small town I live in. I am marked by the gothic/emo stereotype. Because of this, people don’t seem to give me chances. My teachers are always so shocked when they see my A+ on a test because they believe to much into stereotypes. Stereotyping has effected me personally in many ways. I can’t work at some places because they don’t trust me because of the way I dress. I feel almost like my clothes speak instead of my mouth around these people. I’m a person, not a can of soup, therefore, I don’t need a label to show what’s inside me.
Personal
Who is the most important person to you?:
Andrew Lawson. My cousin, but more like a brother. I love this boy more than the world. He is everything to me. I grew up with him. He’s a year older than me and takes care of me like he would a sister. No matter what kind of fights we get in, we always seem to make it better with a hug and an apology. We can talk for hours at a time, going from the topic of Concerts, and somehow reaching the topic of Star Wars and the Physics Behind it. I don’t know where I would be without him. Moving from Mississippi to Nevada, and away from him was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do, and I am thanking the gods he is coming back to live with my grandma, who happens to live next door to me. I love this boy with all my heart.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years from now?:
In ten years I will be 25 years old, and hopefully opening my own Salon in Reno, Nevada. I will be saving every cent I make to save up to go The Paul Mitchell school in Reno. I'll probably work at the Hollywood Beauty place until I graduate as well, to get more experience in the hair styling business.
I love styling hair, and I will do whatever I can to get to the point where I can open my own salon. I want to be the best, I want to be with the greats of hair styling, like Tabatha Coffey, the woman I look up too.
What makes you unique?:
One, I am not perfect. I have flaws as with every other person on the planet. But something in me you may not see everywhere is my open-mindedness. I am someone who can accept and get to know people from all blocks of life. I can look at both sides of a story before making a decision and such. I am being completely honest when I say, I am a unique woman, one you may not find elsewhere.
Who is your idol?:
My idol is another hard question to answer. It’s hard for me to look up to someone. I want to be me, not a copy of someone I admire. There’s only one person who comes close to an idol for me, and that’s my brother. He’s not scared to be himself and loves life. He’s nice to everyone and never says a bad word against anyone. I want to be like him. He’s the one I want to copy, the one I look up to, the only one whose seen me cry, the boy I love more than the world.
Getting a little more witty.
Education; What grade did you make it to?:
I am still in school. I’m in 9th grade currently and I’m an A+ student.
How about college?:
I want to go to the Paul Mitchell school in Reno, Nevada because I just love hair styling and coloring and cutting.
Any certain subjects you like to study?:
I’ve always been interested in Ancient Cultures. I would love to study those in the nearby future.
What type of books do you like to read?:
Classic Novels. For some reason, the way that old books are written interest me. I love Jules Verne and H.G. Wells. Reading old books make me feel a little smarter on the inside and sorta gives me a wider view of old beliefs. The smell of old books is very thrilling as well.
