Ancients Celts called the Tree of Life crann bethadh. They believed it had special powers.

To honor the Tree of Life, Celtic people left a single, large tree in the center of fields whenever they cleared land. They called this tree crann bethadh. Under its branches, they appointed their chieftain and held gatherings. Because the tree provided food, medicine and shelter to people and animals, the Celts believed it had the power to take care of all life. Cutting it down was a great crime, and thus, the greatest triumph one could achieve over one's enemies was to cut down their crann bethadh.

Celtic knots are known as endless knots because they don't have a beginning or end. They represent how nature is eternal. Celtic Tree of Life knots represent the roots and branches of a tree woven together without end, showing the continuous cycle of life on earth.

Deep in the night, under a full moon. The Mother came to her. Beautiful strong white wolf, with ice blue eyes. You are mine. I will protect, and guide you along your journey.

She was so confused. Alot overwhelned her. She began to see and expierence things, and a calling she couldnt begin to understand. All she knew was that this was apart of her, she accepted her Mother Moon, and began to open up and embrace all that was being shown to her.

Night after night they came to her. Showing very detailed expierences and how transformation changed their life, she watched others lives unfold infront of her eyes, with different outcomes. She was explained in great detail how each was different, how their choices reflected the out come of transformation.

As the nights passed she was shown a tree. The tree was a sign of where her spirit came from. She was shown ruins and markings. It was coming faster than she could write it all down, and to even begin to understand.

There was a warrior with deep red fire colored hair. Deep green eyes, that was so fierce. She had a deep calling and a life of service with oaths she upheald. Her reputation was known all over. Wherever she was sent to carry out orders, she left many in her wake.

That was of course before she met him. He had a reputation of being very cold. His choices were viewed as pure evil. His children hidden away from him. she was sent to destroy him.. alas that was not to be.. in a dark night, in the dungeon hidden away, her life was forever changed. Not knowing if she would survive the change, the ritual began anyway, despite great odds, she survived and became his student.

As she struggled to understand everything flooding in to accept and learn, she looked into the mirror into her soul, and saw the spirit of this warrior within her, as the smell of coppery crimson and sweat filled her nostrils, the feel of battle over took her.. something awoke deep within...

I can almost hear his words in my ear, I shudder, my beautiful mother moon, comes to me, and reasures me, I will be ok, for she is now a guide for my spirit. She will forever remain with me.

It is believed that the word druid comes from the ancient Indo-European word deru meaning 'steadfast' but is also related to the Celtic word for the sacred tree 'oak'. The root or id part of the word is associated with the word wid meaning 'to know'. So basically druid means 'knowledge or wisdom of the oak'.

The ancient druids were also responsible for passing on the oral religious tradition to different generations and were regarded as 'teachers of wisdom'.

There are accounts of druids eating acorns from the sacred oak tree to give them prophetic powers.

Druids were considered masters of stories and poems and as Christianity took hold in Gaelic Ireland, it seems as if there role evolved more as poets with much less religious importance.

There are different opinions on this but the basic understanding is that the unending knot symbolizes the unending cycle of life. The interweaving points to the interdependence and interconnection of physical and spiritual aspects of our being.

The Native Americans believed the earth and everything in it was a huge, living web, sharing one common spirit. Wolves held a special place in almost all Native American tribes. They were admired for their strength and powers of endurance, and taught the tribes many skills. They taught the tribes about sharing, cooperating while hunting and looking after the young, caring and having pride in their tribes. They showed the Indians how to move in the forests -- carefully and quietly. The hunters looked for signs of them, for when game was scarce, the wolves would be gone. And after killing the prey, a good hunter always left a piece of meat behind. Some tribes thought that we were the creatures most patterned after the wolf, and not the other way around. Contrasting with European folklore, where wolves are usually depicted as evil, Native American folklore has wise wolves that teach lessons to their human counterparts.
There is a Lakota story about a woman hurt and left behind that became a part of a wolf pack. She stayed with them for many years, but she finally realized that she had to return to her people. She brought with her many skills of the wolf, such as predicting weather far in advance and alerting the village when there were animals or other humans nearby.

The wolf, more often than not, was called a female. It held great magic, possessing the power of night, the healing powers of the spirits, and the wisdom to instill courage. There is an Omaha story in which a wolf guides a wounded warrior back to his camp, alerting him whenever there are enemy warriors nearby and showing him the easiest path. In the Cherokee tribe, there was a clan called the wolf people. They would never kill a wolf, believing the spirit of the slain wolf would revenge its death. The Cherokee also believed that if a hunter showed respect and prayed before and after killing an animal, the deer, the wolf, the fox, and the oppossum would guard his feet against frostbite. To the Hudson Bay Eskimos, the wolf was a poor woman who couldn't find enough for her children to eat. The family grew thin and weak and were changed into wolves. The pain of the mother can still be heard when she calls out howling. The Pueblo Indians, on the other hand, believe that the wolf was a gift from their mother creator Ut'set. The wolf, the bear, the badger, and the shrew were sent to use their magic and harden the earth. When they did, the ground was no longer too wet for the people to walk on. And for the Tewa Indians, the wolves held the powers of the east, and were one of the zenith power-medicine animals. The Indians watched the Europeans come and kill the wolves. They thought it was akin to the story of Cain and Abel, for wolves are men's brothers. The Blackfoot and Lakota believe that a gun used to shoot a wolf will never shoot straight again.
