This portfolio will likely not be all that different than the portfolios on some on my newer profiles. But, I thought I would make it a little more personal. If you've read my profile you know my name is Wendy.
People call me either Wendy or WAR because my initials spell a word and people find that amusing. I will answer to either as I love that my parents named me something where the initials spell a word. My mom was an infertility patent and had several miscarriages prior to my birth. During that difficult time, she'd heard that there was a Korean legend that if you named your baby with initials spelling a word, that child would be lucky and have great fortune. Personally, I do not believe in luck, but I do believe in fortune and I am fortunate to be my mother's daughter.
I do not have any children of my own, but I do have two, four-legged children. It was not my choice not to have children, it was a choice that my health made for me. I debated about posting pictures of my critters as it feels like posting pictures of your children on the internet. But for right now, here are a few pictures.
My firstborn is a chocolate spotted Ocicat. He is spoiled rotten and spends his days lounging on a heating mat covered in a Florida Gators' plush blanket. He is full of personality even though he is getting quite old. I especially love our morning ritual of getting up early, before anyone else is up, making a piping cup of delicious coffee (or Earl Grey tea), curling up in our favorite overstuffed chair, and reading until the sun comes up.
My second-born was actually adopted from the Birmingham Race Course when he was about 2 1/2. He is a black and white Greyhound. He is also spoiled rotten and spends his days relaxing on one of his five beds spaced throughout the house. Greyhounds are interesting critters and Twiz is no exception. They like to run really fast for about five minutes and sleep for the rest of the day. I love his inquisitive brown eyes. It is so joyous to watch him run after I have had a stressful day at work. All that carefree bliss of feeling the wind against your face while you zip around the yard careful to miss any obstructions such as trees and your people; I am covetous.
The next picture is of me and the two people that mean the most to me outside of my family. They have been more instrumental in framing the person that I am today than they could ever know. Although I do not get to see them as often due to COVID-19 restrictions, they are the kind of friends that you can pick up with right where you left off, without feeling like you've misses a beat. We have shared many hours of hard work, lots of laughs, tears of sadness, and tears of happiness.
And, for my last picture, here is a recent picture of me.
