In my mind, I know the time is drawing ever closer.

The day when my beloved Shadow is no longer mine.

To feel his huge head and chest across my legs pinning me to the bed.

It is only then that my spirit is at reast; that my soul does not seize in fear.

His heart still beats strong and steady. His breath normal and hardy.

It is in his large brown eyes that he holds my heart. He knows me and loves me still.

Who is this male, my beloved Great Dane Shadow of course.

Knowing his days are drawing closer; my heart is far too fragile to not have one of my gentle giants to guard it.

I have found a baby female. She is named herself Athena - She is the goddess of the logistics of war. She champions the true and bears great wisdom. She is the Warrior Goddess and yet is also of Peace and the protector of the city.

So, shall she become the next guardian of my heart.

I have her now so that my gentle soul can whisper his knowledge to her before he joins his brother in the distant lands of peace and light.

I now no longer fear death, knowing that in its wake I will once again be rejoined with the souls of my most trusted loved ones.

As the veil crosses over my eyes, I will hear them and then I will see them and all else will fall away.

I will see the love in their eyes, be knocked down with joy.

I will fall and give thanks for the blessing of being with them once again.

Then my spirit shall sour as an eagle and my soul will be content.

Surrounded by the loves of my true heart; and I will again give thanks and be at peace.
