His eyes intensely stare at me, those blue eyes watching my movement, his eyes full of regret, and pain. The pain and regret from a war that none of us could ever escape.
Then just as suddenly as the fight among the winged creatures of you and me began-
The surrender and the words that made me see the truth behind his eyes.
" I have always loved you. "
Why then? I knew then, I understood a small bit of it at that moment.
I forgave you at that very moment you uttered those words. I knew the truth behind your pained eyes.
But who are you now?
Lives have been lived, and time has changes us all, but we will forever be who we once were. A soul can never change it's past scars, but it can heal as time moves forward.
One day a memory will be remembered from long ago, I hope when that happens that it finds you well.
" We'll protect you, don't worry. " His cheeky grin framed his face in a genuine way as he smiled at me, his younger twin soon followed with that typical smile they would show to comfort me. The shade of the dark grey boulder behind us giving off a nice cool feeling from the otherwise mid day sun. The grass was green beneath my feet as I stared down at my toes feeling the way the grass poked in between them from my sitting position on the ground. Then I looked up at the two brothers, packing items into their packs and strapping weapons to their arms, legs and waists. Preparing themselves for anything and everything should it come our way.
" You promise? " I looked up at the older brother, Gael in question, worry seeping into my very core.
" Promise. " His reply was gentle and more genuine than I had ever heard, it shocked me to hear such sincerity.
" Yeah, we won't let anything happen to you. ", The younger brother had spoke up before I could recover from my bout of surprise with his usual big grin plastered to his face. Somehow it made me feel better, we were in this together after all.
It will take some time to understand it and grasp it, that they are there for me, that I am not just canon fodder in my efforts to protect others. It gave me a form of peace in a way to hear their words. It's better to be a lab project on the run with others who are just like you than to be a lab project who gets caught like a captive turkey in a rainstorm.
The twins weren't so bad either, sure the older one was much more calm, cool and collected than his only an hour apart hot headed, goofy younger brother, but something about being apart of it made me comfortable. The two were not bad looking either, which was always a plus when you are on the run one would suppose.
The first born, Gael has blue hair that oddly matches perfectly with his pale skin. I would have sworn the man could blend in perfectly with the snow if his hair was not so blue. In the short time I had been on the run with the two I nearly lost him in the snowy hills before because of it. Gael is his nick name, mostly because I could never pronounce his full name without him having to coach me through it for a good twenty minutes while the younger twin, the red head with a bit of a hot-headed personality would laugh and giggle like it was some middle school joke.
This is just kind of a throw out there to a story I am working on. Just random bits and pieces here and there with it. This story is based off of two people I actually have dreamnt about when I was younger, the personalities and physical descriptions being a bit off because in the dream Gael's hair was blue and green at times, and his brother's was red to a pinkish color. Their eyes were blue and green at different times, like Gael's was once blue then green and the same for the younger brother. I am working on finding a name I feel fits the younger brother.
Thanks for reading, and please let me know what you think. :) Also leave my grammar alone please, I worked hard on even writing this so it's not very nice to pick at it for something so small.
