Although it may seem strange, there is not a great connection between Mexico and Spain. Probably due to historical reasons (being Spanish is not exactly a reason to feel proud, after the conquest of America).
In any case, don't be surprised if I tell you that, in present-day, at Spain there is great affection for Mexican culture and, at the same time, people are trying to get to know pre-Columbian culture better, partly because of the rise of shamanic spirituality.
A recipe for a traditional Mexican drink, pulque, has come to me from a shaman woman, which is said to provide great bodily and spiritual benefits.
Pulque is the Mexican drink par excellence and, in its mythical origin, it is said that it was a gift from the Nahuatl goddess Mayáhuel to humans.
Pulque is an alcoholic beverage that is obtained from the maguey leaves and is made from the fermentation of mucilage (organic substance with a viscous texture, typical of some vegetables).
The fermentation process is carried out in "tinacales" (place where the pulque water tanks are installed); where the mead is poured and mixed with the pulque seed or foot and from this moment the fermentation and transformation of the mead into pulque begins, this process takes approximately 24 hours.
Traditionally, pulque is attributed medicinal properties, such as that it alleviates gastrointestinal disorders, stimulates the appetite, combats weakness and improves certain kidney ailments, its consumption is also recommended to lactating women to increase milk secretion and improve its quality.
Cheers!
