OK, I'm about to babble so bear with me. About 8 months ago, I had a really good friend ask me why I was not still doing filmwork and I explained that my camera broke and that I couldn't get a new one yet. She took it upon herself to help and got me a new camera. That was incredibly sweet of her and I felt that this was an opportunity to get the ball rolling.
I shot a few shorts that I considered to be crap but put them out there, nonetheless. I did what I think is a pretty good job on The Devil's Box, even with the limited resources that I had available to me and that is getting a bit of circulation. We're waiting on word from a cast manager that runs a RHPS shadow group to find out if it will be hitting its big screen debut at the Monster Mania convention in May.
That's not even the good news. We're shooting a film tomorrow, something I did with another cast and although its just a short, it will have a much more atmospheric feel and a better cast. Each project is another step in the right direction.
Here is what has actually stirred me from my comatose state and into writing mode for this journal entry. A few weeks ago, I approached an actor about doing part of a film project with me and then having me edit this into my own film. I got the email today, verifying that he is indeed going to participate and has a bunch of Florida actors awaiting the scripts to do this project. In addition to this, he contacted a good friend of his in NY, who has also agreed to do a cameo and send the footage my way. It's not like I am going to be working with academy award winners, but this opportunity opens many more foors by having a few names that a few people will recognize on a dvd. That is really exciting, especially considering that it opens even more doors down the road.
I apologize again for this banter but I needed to get it out. My excitement over this is totally uncontainable.
