He wonders the earth now never caring, not even his clan, his breed from the Gathering, holds a place in his heart. A heart so cold an artic rock would thaw ice more rapidly.
Screeching loudly and with a thunderous rap of his wings, her took to the sky once more. Like so many time over the centuries, this journey was never easy.
He had wept so many times, yet his curse was never to be lifted, his nightmare no easier
Flying high, yet darting to and fro, his wings grazed the side of the cliff top, something he was use to by now. His journey took him ever closer, to the spot of his heart wrenching tragedy, the place were love, life, his freedom had become his sentence. A life without joy, without purpose.
As he flew he began to recall, the hatred, the battles that ensured afterward. This was the driving force that kept him alive in the first century after his night of dismay. At times he would fly straight towards the moon, only to dart back down once more, with lightning speed he would roll and tumble as if fighting and invisible creature. His cries could be heard for miles as he released his pain, his torment.
Up ahead the lights of the village stuck out in the distance, with every flap of his wings drawing him closer. The pain on his face the empty expressionless eyes, changed as he landed in a field, not far from the stoned wall cave he had made in the first few decades after that night.
Making his way through the field grabbing roses as he went. Not ordinary roses, these were roses he had breed solely for this purpose. Outside the entrance stood a townsman
A loyal friend, from a family in the village. The family had served him for so many generations now he had forgotten when they first appeared. Regardless, at this time of the year he would always come, he would leave them gold pieces and in return they kept the cave, its contents safe, sacred and clean.
As made his way into the cave, a river of tears began to flow. He recalled the passion the endless nights of lovemaking, her soft lips on his body, as she would playfully nip at him to wake up. He was recalling her smile, the warmth she would bring him, and her strange little ways, and how she would play hide and seek on the anniversaries. How her body would gleam as the moonlight sparkled of the beads of sweet in there times of passion. Closer and closer he inched. The dirt under his feet, turning to mud, as his tears mixed with the surface dust.
Kneeling down he placed the roses at the foot of a small alter, his hand reached out with trembling fingers, to pick up a locket. Opening the locket, he began to sob loudly as he moved his lips to kiss her photo, before placing it back in front of the jewel encrusted chalice that now held her………………vampiredust
