i was the only dark dj at the telemagica festival and i mean the only one!!!
the others where these bad trance djs that would just stand there with their headphones on.... and none of them could get people to dance at all.
but for some reason the ravers and the hippies seem to love what i was doing. (i'll post the playlist at some point.)
i may be getting a lot of gigs out of this down in socal and even in mexico. (woot!)
ok, so because the crowd seemed to like what i was doing, the organizers gave me an extra hour to spin (all the others only got less than an hour, go figure on that one.)
about half an hour into my second hour, the performance artist that was to come on after me showed up with her guitarist. the guitarist looked really familiar and older than my dad. he started to set up his gear and i asked him if he wanted me to stop spinning so that he could do sound check, but he just told me to keep going. he was doing his sound check to what i was spinning. and than he started to play along with what i was doing. i started to change things up a bit more and we started working off of one another. i started to do a lot of wall of sound layering while he played.
we did that for about a half an hour and i had so much fun doing that! that by itself was worth the 600mile trip away from my lover.
but then i found out who the guitarist was......
ever heard of a band called Santana?????
well, it wasn't carlos santana, but it was the other guitarist from the original line up (and the guy that carlos did the dueling guitars with at woodstock.)
HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!!!
we exchanged info. later on and talked about working a bit more together when i go down to l.a. next.
wow,
21 hrs on the decks can really hurt when your getting older.
there was a lot more, but right now i can't even think to write.
