yes i was at the hugo awards on saturday night. a friend of mine finally won after more than ten nominations over the years. and this really is one of the best awards speeches ever. and totally for real.

wow, that's a first for me. i officially had the most requests for one song for one event that i have ever had in last few hours. and i know that the requests for this song are just going to go up

we all have our heros. and some of us are lucky enough to actually meet them. i have been lucky enough to meet one of mine some years back. some people know that i was on my way to be an astro-physicist before the djing hit. and i got to meet my hero in that world over 10 years ago. i got to meet dr. stephen hawkins (sp?) and thought i was going to have a heart attack back then.



now, i am going to not only get to meet my hero in the dj world but i am going to get to actually dj with him. in a few weeks time i am going to djing with dr. demento in reno. i have loved him since i was very little and has been one of the reasons that i did continue as a dj......



i have been talking with him off and on for the last few weeks about working out details of the show.

You got to meet Stephen Hawkins? Wow! That would be one of the most interesting people in the entire world to have a conversation with! Him and the Dalai Lama are folk I'd love to meet :)

i got to talk a little with him too.



i got to do that because at the time i had a morning show on a college radio station and i was on a tirade about how the city i was living in at the time wasn't set up at all for someone in a wheel chair to get around. my brother in law was having a lot of trouble at the time just moving around the city in his motorized chair. so i was really saying something.



well, dr. hawkin's booker happened to be listening at the time and invited me the press conference that he was doing the next week.



i got dropped next to the wall street journal and discover magazine. so i sat there with my bright blue hair and my suit that was held together with chains and safety pins. i got to sit down a bit with him later on that day.
