The Ultimate Vampire Resource and Directory

This is my second trip to an MRI and I hope it is my last as it is almost impossible for me to be still 20 minutes.



The first time almost three years ago was when they thought I had had a stroke but it was only an indeterminable strain of encephalitis. This time I am having pain and tingling on my left side from my upper arm to midway on my ear including my upper left chest.



No, its not a heart problem as the several EKGs all are fine as was the echocardiogram. My heart is fine as far as medical science can tell. They should have asked some of my former students. They would have said it was made of granite or steel. ;)



Depending on the results from the device of torture, my next step may be to see a neurologist and I know a good one, Dr. Ugokwe. I met him when I was in the hospital out of my head with encephalitis. I was told that I thought I was in a prison and that I was trying to get materials to build an improvised explosive device. They really got scared when they were told that my military specialty was weapons of mass destruction and I had a PhD in chemistry. I guess that is why they had me restrained until I was more normal. :) Oh, normal for me. ;)

Yes and me too.. I have my first MRI scan coming up soon. I am so scared about it.

I have the weekend off. I plan to rest and work around the house when not on VR and Sciencemadness.



Sciencemadness is an on-line community started by amateur home chemists for assisting in home research in chemistry and the sciences. It looks to be a pretty good group of people. I think I may meet some new friends there. It is not a social network like VR so no worries about me leaving my Home here. :)

Yesterday a BS chemist at our plant was trying to repeat a reaction to make chloroacetic acid using the procedure found in this paper. After mixing the acetic acid, PCl3, and trichloroisocyanuric acid (trichlor) it promptly exploded. It sounded like a hand grenade going off. Fortunately he was doing a test reaction in a one ounce vial, with eye protection but he received glass fragments and cuts over his face, hands, and neck. One of the fragments destroyed a flat scene monitor 10 feet from the explosion.







Today one of our receiving clerks dropped a 4 liter bottle of bromine forcing rapid evacuation of our warehouse / admin building. Bromine is a poisonous liquid that converts rapidly to a poisonous gas when left in the open. She is OK. We got everyone out quickly. I saw the shipment yesterday and warned our receiving clerks that proper procedure if one of the bottles breaks is to "runaway" while yelling run to everyone in earshot. I guess my warning was timely.



Even the flavor industry has its moments

Today is better as there are fewer people on weekends wanting a piece of me. I can get my work done and get out of there with less fuss. But I have to go in tomorrow since I ditched early Friday.



I still don't have much of a life but less stress.



Thanks to all of my wonderful friends in UO and other parts of VR. They make life bearable and sometimes even pleasant and entertaining. :)

I am sorry I had to leave. I had reached the end of my rope and was not functioning. I have gotten medication (Xanax) and will give my self some release today and will be back for more fun and games tomorrow. I feel like I am being pulled in too many directions between work (too many masters and needy people) and home (too many needy people and responsibilities). I feel like I am being torn apart at times into tiny little pieces and have no life of my own. I am existing to do for others at the expense of my mental and physical health.
