I spend a lot of time with DJ's part owning a company that supplies Mobile Discos, being a retired DJ at 32 no less. with all my uncles being Former or still active DJ's.
Hey it's in our blood, we have a massive and i mean MASSIVE collection of Music from all decades and classes of music. mainly my job is to maintain this massive data base sitting around a 1 Terabyte. Yes i am serious. From Time to time our CD's get damaged through use and transportation. i spend time remastering the collection, archiving and replacing, usually i spend a couple of days a week listening to music both old and New. In this new Funky Section of my Journal i am going to list what i have been listening to and if it's a new album or band i shall give a small review on it.........
Ok this week so far..
Breaking Benjamin - Phobia - Currently Playing
I fell in love with this band, after i Heard Blow Me Away which was on the soundtrack to Halo 2. This album does not disappoint, my head has been rocking from start to finish, tracks on note are. The Diary of Jane, Topless & Had Enough. Really there are no bad tracks on this album. if i had to give it a rating i'd give it 5 Stars
-----------------------
Bob Marley - The Very Best off
really the man is legend.
-----------------------
Eagles - The Very Best of
Another legendary band, i enjoy these guys it's in the playlist as our master copies are damaged. a good chill out album after a hard week.
------------------------
UB40 - The very best of..
Again another on that our master is damaged. a great band from the 80's personally i can take them or leave them
------------------------
Jimmy Somerville, Bronski Beat & Communards the collection
An amazing voice and talent, stretching from the 80 to 90's some classic dance floor and disco tracks.
this is me combining all jimmy's work under one collection..... removing single albums from the case.
-----------------------
Amy McDonald - This is life
Amy burst onto the music scene this year hailing of course from Scotland, her infectious tone and cute looks where a guarantee of success, her music and her talent are immense current hit - Mr Rock and Roll. another 5 star album i recommend you listen to her. Has appeared at several music festivals in the UK and she looks like gaining in popularity each day.
------------------------
Fergie - The Dutchess
Been around a while this album now, initially i rejected it from our archives, some of the tracks i thought were just not quite there, i personally think she is cute but London Town and Fergielicious put me off her. her recent hit "Big Girls Don't Cry" proved to me she does have talent and a voice that is worthy of a slow ballad. i have now listened to the album and it's a good mix lots of good tracks and something for everyone i'd give 4 out of 5.
-------------------------
Kate Nash - Made of Brick
Another newcommer to the UK music scene this year if Amy McDonald is the Scottish break through Kate Nash is the English one, she has been critasized for sounding like Lily Allen to much, and on initial hearing you would mix the two up, now Lily did help out Kate on her album so some cross over was bound to happen. Kate style is a lot different from Lilys and her album is a non-stop roller-coaster of emotion "Foundations" is her only chart sucess so far, but i expect more. love the album start to finish. other tracks that i really liked "Dickhead" and "Merry Happy"
oh yes and i do find her very cute, very sexy even with that accent......LOL
----------------------------
Linkin Park - Minutes to Midnight
Been a fan of linkin Park for some years now. there latest album just adds to the work they have done in the past. Only heard it the once. the beauty of me doing the database, i get to add things most don't know about.....LOL
----------------------------
Travis - The Boy with no name
Travis are back with there latest album, not one of favourite bands but the album is very good from start to finish. Enjoyable track of note " Selfish Jean"
------------------------------
Bond, James Bond.
This is here cause i have a Bond theme night in the coming months i have just gotten all 22 OST. if you see me next in a Tux with a Vodka Martini and driving an Aston Martin you know what has happened
Mind you i would not the Aston Martin DB9, Vantage ot Arnage T, if anybody has one spare there not using. NO worth a shot.
------------------------------
Ok that me for now, catch you all later
Soullie
