Together
By: JD Allen
I want to feel your naked skin on mine,
To be lost in your love for all time.
I want to drown in your loving lies,
To search for you behind those pretty eyes.
To be with you forever and a day,
Leaning in close to your ear to say.
Be with me always and forever,
To be my friend and lover.
Walk with me down this lonely dark path,
To protect you from the demon’s fiery wrath.
To slide inside your warm embrace,
To explode within,
To gently kiss your face.
As you scream out my name,
I shall sink my fangs in your neck,
Sorry baby but this is no game.
A bit of wetness below your ear,
I touch it with my tongue,
A taste of you so sweet my dear.
I whisper so softly in your ear,
How much I Love Thee My Dear.
The Invisible Soldier
By: JD Allen
I am a citizen and a soldier, invisible; I stand alone, along side others who are citizens and soldiers. We stand Proud and Ready to do the bidding of our country. We stand outside in the cold, the rain, sleet and snow. In the baking sun, in the howling wind, whatever the weather. We stand tall.
I ride the bus every morning to work and I hear you speak to each other of your hopes and dreams, while I suffer in silence. You will never see my pain or sacrifices that I make for you. I don’t even know your name. I sit beside you and you are uncomfortable. You rarely speak to me or even acknowledge my presence. When you do look at me I can see the looks of disdain, contempt or even fear in your eyes. I am a citizen and a soldier and an outcast in your world. I straddle both and fit in neither.
You go to sleep at night and dream sweet dreams while I have nightmares. The things I do for you and my country, you would never think to do, or are unable to do. The blood, sweat, and tears I shed you will never see or understand. You take vacations and holidays off while I stand ready to keep the wolves at bay.
As I travel through your cities and towns, your reactions vary. Some of you glare at me, some of you move away as if I am going to snap and hurt you. I have had others of you cry as you hug me and say thank you. An old veteran shook my hand as he paid for my breakfast, telling me that my money was no good.
I neither ask nor crave glory or recognition. I don’t want medals or parades, just respect. I do this for you and my country so that you can be free. I stand ready, I stand proud.
Everyday I wear my uniform it is with the knowledge that this day might be the day I make the ultimate sacrifice for you. Whether you are rich or poor makes no difference to me, if asked I would do it again to keep the wolves at bay.
You watch the news at night and see my brothers and sisters in uniform doing their jobs and paying the price. If you notice us at all it is only when we are injured or killed, either way we stand tall, ready, and proud. We stand alone.
WE are the Invisible Soldiers.
Broken Promises
By: JD Allen
Did You know what you were doing on that day you threw me away?
Did you even guess that I might be famous some day?
I express my emotions as words on a page,
Like some long forgotten sage.
People love the words that I write,
Their admiration keeps me awake at night.
One little poem has gone worldwide in such a brief span,
Almost overnight.
I didn’t plan on his the day you let me slip away.
Did it occur to you or were you to blind to see?
That those promises and dreams just might come true.
I guess it doesn’t matter, all of this, and I’m still blue.
As the tears roll down my face,
Being famous isn’t all its cut out to be.
I wish you were here in this place with me.
You should have been here
For the whole world to see,
How my inspiration comes to be.
But you choose to leave,
So my emotions flow on to the page,
My hurt, my grief, pain, and rage.
So the whole world can see
How it feels to be me.
Nothing to Believe
By: JD Allen
To a foreign place I’m on my way
And I won’t see my home again
I feel so cold and empty like a lost soul out of place
Cause I lost it along with a friend so far away
As the tears roll down my face.
You sit in your rocking chair
Watching your TV screen
You’re looking at the latest news
As I walk right into the wolves lair.
I feel like this is the last day of the rest of my life
I don’t know what I will find as I round the corner
Probably take two to the chest
Do you care, will you cry as they lay me to rest?
Is the world to blame for the wars that we wage?
What about those who give their lives for your freedom?
Your Sultry Eyes
By: JD Allen
I see you look at me from the corner of your eye,
A full out stare, which you think I don’t see.
Your eyes are beautiful, as you walk on by.
What’s your name?
Are you lonely just like me?
Your sultry look captivates me, making me sigh,
Setting my heart on fire.
How bout coffee or maybe some tea?
A brief flash of skin by your tummy catches my eye.
I sit on the sidewalk day after day.
I want to say hi, or ask you your name.
You look at me and smile as you walk the other way.
I’m afraid you’ll say no and shatter my dream.
You’re just a girl and I’m a boy.
You are so near and yet far away.
Might have been good, might have been bad.
I’ll never know because I’m scared to ask.
I can’t speak whenever I am around you.
You just look at me and smile.
