The sun came up over the artic waste land, shining on seven black domes, each big enough for two people and one large enough for a snowtractor, all of them black for heat absorption. Minutes later, a figure wearing full snow gear and a backpack, came out of one of the domes and walked over to the dome where the tractor was sheltered. Soon others followed wearing similair gear, except each suit was a different color for identification purposes. The tractor was soon warmed up and ready to go.
Around noon, the snowtractor came to a halt at the base of a huge mountain. Inside the snowtractor the crew was discussing their next move.
"That's dangerious as fucking hell!" Fitzjerald yelled.
"It would be more dangerious if we drove in the cave and the snowtractor got disabled, then where would we stay?" Commander Karlton yelled back.
The crew left the tractor in full gear and proceded to the mouth of the cave.
REDSUIT was in charge of weapons.
"Everyone got a full load, but, don't shoot haphazardly, we made need the ammo." Lara Jones stated.
WHITESUIT was medical.
"Each of you have a mini-med kit, but, use it sparingly even though I have a full pack."
BLUESUIT was food.
"We should only be in here for three days, eat like it was six."
GREENSUIT was camo.
"Your stealth mode packs are fully charged, but, use sparingly."
YELLOWSUIT was environmental.
"Your life support modules are good to go, keep a 67% for minimal use till needed."
BLACKSUIT was in command.
"Make damn sure you understand everything and be cautious."
GOLDSUIT was fully automated, a walking computer for extreme emergencies.
The battle had been going for three days. Gold had gone on full auto and was defending the perimeter with Red. Green hadn't returned from recon. White was treating Blue, helping to repair his suit. Black was using his scanner looking for more of the creatures. Yellow was still unconscious. Yellows life support alarm went off, White ran over.
"How is he?" Black asked.
"Dead." White replied.
"FUCK!" said Black. "Gold! Activate suit over-ride, use on perimeter defense." No one objected, knowing the suit was needed.
Green was watchng three of the creatures standing together. They looked like giant bats, but, walked up-right like man, with their wings folded on their backs. Greens stealth mode allowed him to blend in with the surroundings and hopefully, so far, muffle any sounds his suit made. He couldn't send messages without fearing the creatures would pick up on the signals. His video camera was recording silently it seemed. The creatures looked at each other as if line of sight was important for "talking", Green made a mental note of that. He caught movement above him and saw three more creatures flying in low, threes was how they always traveled. Green has seen enough over the past few hours and headed back to the group.
Gold indicated movement in the groups direction and all went on alert. Seconds later Gold indicated it was Green returning. Green entered the group.
"Where the fuck have you been!" Black demanded. Green saw Yellow down and looked at White. White shook his head no.
"I was watching a group of creatures and got some info from my recon." Green stated. He sent videos to all of them and let them in on what he had found.
Suddenly, Gold alerted everyone of air attacks. They came in threes.
"Target the leader of the three and watch the reaction!" Black shouted to the others.
Each suit had a threesome to shoot at, not sexual satifying, but, great results anyway. The lead creature was targeted and killed, the other two hovered for a few seconds and retreated. Minutes later though, groups of threes returned.
"Make each shot count." Black said. The suits began picking creatures out of the sky.
After taking out a few creatures, Green had noticed something and brought it to Blacks attention.
"They seem to avoid the air space in a thirty degree radius right behind us." Green said. He and Black used their scanners and looked in that direction. Watching the creatures fly, they would actually stop and fly away rather than enter that air space. Scans by them both didn't indicate anything dangerious to them, but, all the same it was a certainty to be careful. Black called for Gold to send over Yellow over. It was sad and errie to see Yellows suit respond to electronic commands with her body inside. Using sensors in the suit, they sent Yellow slowly walking in the direction where the avioded air-space was. Yellow had gone nearly fifty yards without incident when Black told everyone to enter in what seemed to be safty. Gold had Yellow stop, but, on full alert. The others slowly made their way to Yellow. They arrived without incident. Gold indicated a hollow place behind a wall thirty yards to the groups left. Yellow was sent to the wall. Heat scanners showed no heat signatures, so Black had Gold use Yellows cutting laser to cut through the wall. No creatures came within striking distance, although they could be seen flying around. Yellow soon cut through the wall and everyone walked through. The signal from the snowtracker came in strong,it was only one hundred yards away.
