"A song is stirring, beckoning,
Grassy tendrils brushing ankles and thighs,
Surrounded by wooden sentries,
The wind whistles and howls and moans and cries.
"Listen to feathers rustling, footfalls tapping,
The wolf parting his jowls into a heartfelt ballad,
Listen to branches rattling, insects chirping,
Be calm and serene, under God's eye, round and pallid.
"Breathe in the sugary maple odor and spicy pine resin,
Drifting along with furry pelts, earthy and dry,
Hearing and smelling perfected, yet eyes ever keen and attune,
Dull color made black and silver by moonlit sky.
"The sun merely cast a dreary, blank illusion,
Golden rays blinding humans from birth,
The moon clears it with darkness and light intertwined,
Silver rays revealing truth of Earth.
"The Night is stirring, beckoning,
As shadows leap and run and prance,
'Come, little human,' She whispers,
Join us in a fairy ring dance."
(Psst! I am very obsessed with astrology, mythology, and religion. Just look at the skies above and convey this poem to mind.)
"Crystal eyes pierce the darkness,
Hanging high up in the abyss,
Submerged within heaven's black lagoon,
Each cluster a message, an ivory rune.
"Lost in the sea's chaotic midst, sailors stared,
Seeking heavenly guidance, from angelic globes that cared,
Others sought knowledge, as philosophers did with limited sight,
All on an honorable quest, to end ignorance's plight.
"A tapestry stitched by celestial makers, artists debated,
Connecting dots into pieces, masterpieces were created,
Some believed it to be God's Kingdom, desiring salvation,
Knowing answers promised freedom, the soul's liberation.
"Merely a sphere of disastrous winds and raging fire?
Yet, if that is true, why does our curiosity never expire?
Life's resource and destructive force, combined in one,
Mysteries woven into our stars and sun."
(Yeah, I know, too much passive voice. I'll try to avoid that in later poetry.)
