Jazlyn tripped over a fallen limb as she frantically ran from her assailent. As she scrambled to her feet, a low branch tore at her, ripping her sleeve and gashing her arm.Ignoring the searing pain in her flesh, She urged her feet to run faster, away from the man not far behind.Dimitri.prince of the Kingdom of KuroAu. The man with skin and hair pale as the full moon above and eyes black as the night around her. She aimlessly ran deeper and deeper into the forest of Ethelda, a shriek of terror welling up in her chest, one that she's never learned to sound, being taught like others of her kind to never be afraid. Then she felt a strange felling in her gut. It only took her a second to realize what that was.She was falling.Once she landed, the impact and cold crushing the gasp and air from her lungs. it wasnt until she was washed up on the banks when the shock subsided and she could move again off the bank of the Irgan river.2 mins later, her ears stopped ringing and she could hear a girls voice in the forest ahead of her."Wow, You had a rough ride, vampy."then a changeling faerie stepped out into Jazlyn's vision."Im Serina Lite." she said cheerfully."Welcome to the Northern waterfalls of Londor."Jazlyn just stood there, taking the cheerful girl in. Serina's hair ran down to the small of her back, green as the grass under her feet. her eyes were enormous, like that of an anime child. Serina stood there for an awkward moment, then calmly stated "along with being the hostess for my land,I am also the healer. You're badly hurt,so come with me.".Jazlyn looked down and was shocked at what she saw.Her shirt was ripped down the front, her arms were cut and bruised, and there was a deep gash in her right leg.Serina gently took Jazlyn's wrist and led her into the forest.
about ten mins. later,Jazlyn was at her wits end with Serina's constant chatter. One minute she's explaining visitor standards, and the next she drooling over some other changeling named Kyo.SO annoying!Once they finally reached the waterfalls, everything was so bright and full of life, the kingdom of KuroAu looked like a different universe!Everything back home was all black and the only lights were red.Serina brought her to a cute little cottage in the center of the luminous village, where Serina started to bandage Jazlyn's wounds. Then, a pounding came on the door. Serina answered the door, and a Pixie boy came in and looked worried. He simply blurted out"a Changeling from Ethelda just arrived and is informing us of Prince Dimitri of KuroAu coming this way," As the words left the pixie's mouth,Jazlyn froze. How in the world had he followed her HERE!? She had lost him as soon as she fell into the Irgan river.Serina looked back at Jazlyn, noticed the terrified panic on her face and immediately said"Don't worry. We're well equipped against unwanted visitors. This one inpaticular. We've had quite the issues with Prince Dimitri for a long time."As reassuring as it was, it still didnt make Jazlyn feel any better.Serina looked at the Pixie,Casey,And calmly said "Bring the Etheldian here.I would like to speak with her.".The Pixie nodded and quickly left the healer's cottage.Serina quickly rushed to Jazlyn's side tocalm her down and finish her bandage. After about 10 min.,Casey returned with a changeling about her age, with deep brown eyes and dark gold hair.she spoke with an airy lightness that almost made even Serina shudder."the names Bubbles.I saw Prince Dimitri chasing that young lady through my forest.when I saw her falling into the Irgan,He just stopped and started walking in the direction she was being washed in."The only thoughts Jazlyn could process were pretty much'Oh shit,oh shit, holy fucking shit'.If it weren't for that bastard initiating an arranged marriage,She wouldnt be in this mess. She would have been able to make a clean getaway if he didnt have that goddamn Ravier guy reporting from hellmouth bridge, the only open way out of the kingdom.damn them all!Once Bubbles finished her report, She turned to face Jazlyn and said,in the same airy tone"There's this young wizard in mount Basilisk.Ill take you to her and she can help you."
The next morning, they left Londor. Headed towards the intersection of the Rouge city and the Lykan Delta, separated by the Irgan and the River Blood. Only about a three hour walk from they luminescent village. When the day approached high noon, they came up to the bridge divide. One led to the lykan delta, the other to rouge city.Jazlyn told them she couldn't go into lykan territories.Lykans and vampires have been enemies for centuries.bubbles replied"gabriel and esme' live in here.they're good friends of mine.they'll take you the rest of the way to the wizard Antigone."Bubbles then led Jazlyn down the Lykan road.the farther down they got, the more nervous she became. as the two approached the gate leading into the delta, a couple came into view. They introduced themselves as Esme' and Gabriel. Gabriel,
who looked about 30 and had this shaggy blonde hair, while Esme' looked a great deal younger, with mahgany hair that run down to her knees. Bubbles turned to Jazlyn and said"This is as far as I dare go.Gabriel and Esme' will take care of you.Youre safe with them". And then, like the blink of an eye, she was gone."Don't worry, Jaz.No one will harm you while you're with us."Gabriel said reassuringly. Jazlyn reluctantly turned away from the spot where Bubbles had just been standing, and started in the direction of Moon City. She walked alongside Gabriel and Esme',too petrified to talk, though the two lykans by her side were chattering on cheerfully as if they didn't even notice the vampire walking alongside them.As they approached the gate to the city ,they couple finally turned serious.
There were these two burly-looking men standing at the gate, one about 6ft tall, had these gold eyes that were almost intimidating. The other,a good deal shorter, was much scarier looking.Gabriel walked up to the taller of the two and whispered something into his ear, while Esme' did the same to the shorter one. Then, the gates opened and Gabriel grabbed Jazlyn and the three walked briskly into the Moon City.
"You did WHAT!?" Jazlyn almost screamed at her father. "I told the prince you were to be his wife by the next lunar cycle's completion".He father, Ivan Crimm,
calmly answered. "And yet you never even had the slightest passing goddamn thought that I AM 18 years old and that you can't make me marry some sick
bastard unless I agreed!? You ever thought of that, old man!?" Jazlyn defiantly snapped at the older man trying to ruin her life.
Her father smacked her in responce. "You think to challenge me, child? You'll marry the prince in two months' time! Do you have any idea what it will do for this
family once you're .married?" Ivan roared, trying to force his point across. "Well you're just hopeless, aren't you? You want more social
standing? Marry the Queen. She's single and seems interested" Jazlyn then turned to leave, resting her case. Ivan gripped her tightly by the shoulders
and spun her around to face him. "You will do as I say. Is that in any way unclear!?" He near shouted into her face. She stood there for a moment,
her emerald green eyes blazed with hatred. She then hissed, "You...are...dead...to...me.". She whipped her shoulders back, shrugging out of his hold,
then turned and bolted from the room before her Father could say anything further.
The next month was one filled with tension and hectic planning. Ivan continued with the preparations of the wedding between the prince and his enraged daughter,
much to her objections. Jazlyn knew the customs of KuroAu well, but she broke them without hesitation. First, A woman doesn't object to an arrangment of marriage.
Jazlyn voiced her opinions loudly and bluntly. Second, a woman is obediant. Jazlyn was stubborn and ignored everything her father told her to do.
Prince Dimitri had tried to court Jazlyn several times over the second month, but Jazlyn didn't want anything to do with him. She knew she had to get out. Dimitri had his guards bring her to the kingdom on the night before the wedding, as was the marriage custom.
Jazlyn paced the room they placed her in, trying to figure out how to get out of this. She walked over to the window, peering out over the vampiric city. Although there are
no restrictions to dress in KuroAu, people still look down upon women who are not in the natoinal colors(black and Crimson) and in a floor-length dress. She loathed being dressed in such things, but blending would help her escape. She wore human clothes underneath so she can continue incongnito once outside the city.
As she gazed out into the vast, Nocturnal city, she noticed the woven ropes of aged vines, almost like a ladder along the left side of the window. Acting on a whim, Jazlyn threw one leg over the window sill, then the other so it looked like she was sitting on the window frame. Then she reached over and grabbed onto one of the vines, allowing
the rest of her body to swing from the one hand. Jazlyn then started swinging herself down, alternating between hands. Then, once she was about 30 feet from the ground,
the vines she was holding snapped, sending her plummeting towards the ground, narrowly landing on her feet. She rolled about 10 feet to absorbe the impact. Jazlyn hid beneath a nearby tree and to make sure she wasn't seen. Making sure the coast was clear, she quickly retreated to a nearby alley that would lead straight to the gates of
Kuro-Au.
Once there, she saw that the were unattended, much to her luck. Careful not to accidentally leave any clue that someone was there, she quietly slipped through
the slightly open gates. Once she had made it outside KuroAu, she quickly disposed of the dress, throughing it into the Irgan river that runs along the edge or the vampiric nation. As she crossed the Hellmouth Bridge, a feeling out of nowhere compelled her to run. Before taking off, she looked and saw Ravier, the demon guardian of the bridge, crawled up from his post underneath. what he clutched in his slimy claw was the sign to go; the dress. But it was already too late to go quietly. Because Ravier had already opened his mouth and screeched the shrill alarm to the prince. Feet barely touching the ground, Jazlyn took off into the Forest and the pursuit was on.
