The feel of lips or the look of a smile
A simple touch or just sitting close for a while
The sound of silence in the morning
Showing up to hang out without warning
My smile at hearing your voice
Your dirty looks when I make you make some choice
Intimate conversations late at night
Seeing you even before first light
The lack of these things is like a hole
Emptiness that weighs like an anvil on my soul
An innocent touch lingers just a little
A look and a grin before looking away
A quip that nobody else understands
A smile on my face a secret in the open
As the evening comes the shadows rise and silence sets in
The time has come for most to find their rest
And I sit awake thinking of what once was
Calm and stillness permeates the world around me
And I worry over what might come to pass
More than all of this I sit here alone
Alone and thinkng about those who aren't
As the evening brings my solitude I sit thinking
I wish there was someone here by my side
A voice to push aside the silence
