"So stranger, we have been talking a while now. It has been a long trip, you told me it would be worth my while to come with you. Yet, how can I trust you if you won't look in my eyes?"
"I can not offer you assurance on that, but I will tell you that it is not trust that you'll find in my eyes."
"Then tell me, what would I find there?"
"Do not ask a question you don't want the answer to?
"I see."
The two men sat in silence for a while, each looking out a window of the carriage. Occasionally the one would look at the stranger, and wonder what his deal was. He didn't even trust his best friend, but he had a strange feeling that made him trust at the least that the stranger was leading him somewhere important.
"So, will you tell me where we are going?"
"Where you need to go, you shall see soon."
The carriage started to slow now and the man looked out the window.
"But this is the place where we started."
"No, it is the location where we started, but as time has passed it is not the same place. It is time for you to get out."
"Very well."
He stepped onto the cobblestone intersection, and looked around. The stranger stepped out after him.
"You are not quite where you need to be yet, I suggest you head on your way now."
"So I shall, thank you."
They shook hands and he went to let go and turn, but the stranger didn't let go.
"First..."
The stranger pulled him close and looked into his eyes.They parted ways. The stranger got back in his carriage, and he went on his way.
As he walked down the street he pondered the experience. He stopped under a street light a few corners down. He looked to his left at a man approaching him. The man passed and stopped. They turned to look at each other, the man walked to him. He only smiled as he felt the knife pierce his heart. Reaching around the man as though to hug him, he plunged his own dagger into the man's back. They separated and fell over, the man with a stunned look on his face, and he only had a peaceful smile.
