A girl walked with a boy in the woods. They had just gotten back from having dinner at a local place. The boy held the girl's hand softly, warmly, and protectively. They decided to walk in the woods that cold November night because it would make the girl happy. The moon was high in the sky and the beams scattering through the trees like ribbons of white silk.It played across the boy's face making him seem younger. It touched the girl's skin and made it glow. The small creek shined in the moonlight quietly singing a haunting melody. The girl shivered in the wind. The boy shyly put his arms around her, and leaning back into him she looked up and smiled at him. They stood for what seemed like hours not saying a thing. They didnt need words, they didnt need anything at all. The boy spoke.
"Hey."
"Hmmm?", the girl asked her eyes glowing silver.
"You want to go?", he asked
"A bit longer ok? Just a little longer I like it here."
"I know you do.", he said quietly," I do to."
"How do you do it?", she asked staring deeply, her brow furrowed as in silent pondering.
"Do what?, he said clearly confused.
The girl turned around in the boy's arms and buried her face in his warm embrace. It felt good this warmth. It made her feel so safe when she hadn't in so long. She mumbled her answer in his chest her voice muffled by his coat. The boy plled her closer and ran a hand lightly, nervously alon her back.
"I didn't catch that.", he said grinning into her hair,"Care to try again?"
She looked right at him, into a face so dear to her, the tears barely being held back, "How do you make me forget everything that hurts so badly? How did it happen? What did I do to deserve you? Why do you want me when I am so confused in the heart?"
" I fell in love you when you first walked into our class. You are the kindest, most gentle girl I have ever known and and also the bravest. You've led me on a wild goose chase but I've got you now.I don't care if I have to wait until you're old to sort out your feelings.Ill kiss those lips until both our dentures pop out if that is when you finally are mine.",he took a breath and she could see his blushing face, "I am glad I can make you smile when you have done nothing but cry.I want to always. I won't push for you to love me back. I want you because I love you. I want the gil that has stood by me and is so imperfect but absolutely perfect that the line is indistiguishable."
The girl looped her arms aroud his neck and smiles, "I'd rather not kiss you with dentures. How about right now?"
She kissed his stunned lips as he pulled her close. He warmed her heart and she brought the light back into his soul. Time was endless in that moment as their lips and hearts agreed for once.As their lips parted and he pulled her closer, the girl smiled and kissed his neck. When had these arms gotten so strong? When did he get so tall? Where was the boy that threw mud at her? When had his eyes gotten so clear. When had his voice gotten so deep? He had grown up withut her looking. He had become the prince of the fairytale except he was her prince, and not some other girl's like she had always thought. They kissed again the wind caressing them softly. They pulled apart and he held out his hand to her which she took. Together the two walked back to the house in which their friend lived.
"Wanna come in?", she asked not wanting to let go of his hand.
"Ok."
Together they sat on the couch and watched Cinderella and the boy was asleep half way through the movie. The girl pulled herself up and stared at his sleeping face.
Quietly she whispered in his ear, "Dreams do come true." She curled into him, took his hand, and slept as the stars twinkled through the living room window.
