As I sat on the bank of the Columbia River at the Port of Kalama the orange moon crept over the jagged edge of the hillside. It was dim and gloomy. As the darkness draped over it I felt my heart sadden. The shadow of the earth dimming its beauty. I waited patiently for the darkness to fill its dull glow.



It was an eerie feeling. It wasn't completely dark but its glow was draped in a web of shade. While most waited for the total eclipse I found myself holding my breath and waiting for the light to return.



Suddenly a burst of the brightest light escaped the capture of the shadow. It was so bright I almost felt blinded. Finally my breath escaped and I found my heart racing. The light was returning and seemed brighter than ever.



The entire trip home my eyes followed the moon watching it spring back to life. To bring back my joy. While it seemed to take forever for the darkness to overtake the moon the light returned quickly. Like a tigress escaping a capture. It was the most exhilerating feeling to see the moon reach fullness. Bright and full of new life.



I often see my life much like the feelings i experienced watching the moon hit the depths of darkness only to see the light burst and fill the sky with light.
