Yesterday there were updates for Minecraft on PS3. I really loved the "natural" texture pack but the "candy" was awfully cute.

The dirt was cake! The Creepers were gummies!

I need to get a card so I can buy add ons.

Dang it I need headphones. It never fails, I finally sit down to watch(read)one of my Korean dramas and someone decides to watch or play something with similar but conflicting speech in the adjoining room.

If I was anyone else I would just do what I want but no, I have to hate being rude and put it off until next time.

Is it amazing how much stress can be generated by a call from the VA Hospital System?

I was sitting here killing time while my son used the stove. I am hungry and was waiting to make a rice omelet. Then my husband gets a call from the VA. Hunger turns to stomach twisting nausea while I listen to what I can catch of his side of the conversation....

When he finally got off the phone I sat here and waited to hear what they had to say. Nothing major, they are calling to see if he needs anything. For the last year he has been using a blood pressure machine when he is home to send daily blood glucose and blood pressure reports. Despite their concern over his super high A1C(at start)and enzyme readings which had indicated he may be on the verge of a major coronary event he has not been scheduled a visit with his doctor since December.

His co-coordinator is going to try and fix that.

Oh? ok, we can sit and wait on that.

Nothing new there, appetite back.

Rice omelet, here I come.

No vet should have to wait that long! The VA needs to up their game.

I hope that you got to enjoy that omelet.

I did! Rice omelet is always good!

Today after this first call there was another call to set an appointment. I told him that we need to arrange for me to make appointments because he always panics and messes up when they talk to him.

Tonight I prepared blackened chicken. It is a dish I have never prepared before and even as I am typing it is still cooking, still a little rare in the middle as the chicken breasts are big. I was a little unprepared for the amount of smoke generated by dropping the meat onto a sizzling hot pan for a minute per side.

Yesterday every time I thought of something to write here I forgot it by the time I sat down. It was actually a pretty blah day.

This is so weird. I am alone in the house at night.

Not entirely alone, there are no other people though.

This just almost never happens.

It is but it still feels weird. I know I need to get used to this since the kids are getting older and moving out in the coming years.

My son actually still checks in when he goes out!

Today was my sons graduation ceremony. For us it was a very big deal. Neither my husband or myself graduated from High School.

I cried a few times, for me it was emotional. The Salutatorian is a well voiced young man and a brilliant entertainer who spoke about how people need to live their dreams so they do not have regret. So far I have lived my dream; all I ever wanted was to be a parent. That never ends even when both of my kids are adults. a part of me will always want to be with them.

The Valedictorian was put on the spot. The school lost his speech so he had to try and remember what he could. While his oration could have been louder, slower and better enunciated I think he said some very good things. I know he was nervous, not everyone is given to public speaking. He began by jokingly turning his back on everyone and taking a selfie. Then he went into how people are so involved in their technology that they fail to take part in life. It made people laugh.

At our school public meetings begin and end with a prayer. I am not a Christian but I don't find it offensive either. I think that if I polled the graduating class and asked them how they felt about it, most of them would have been ok with it. In a way it makes me feel kind of good, as a Pagan, what is a prayer after all but a wish? It is well intended, not a sermon but a call to anyone within hearing range for peace, protection and guidance. It was nice. Certainly no different than the Pledge of Allegiance.

My son is no Honor student, in fact the boy did everything in his power to avoid it. Not wanting the responsibility of leadership or of demanding programs he proved that sometimes being smarter means realizing that you don't have to work too hard. He passed with a B average this year while sleeping through nearly every class. This gave him a C for the entirety of his High School career. He also received a Gold Seal in recognition of having achieved more than the necessary credits. Required is 24 and he graduated with 28.

One of the students from his graduating class died violently his Sophomore year. Initially it was believed to be suicide but due to her mothers untiring efforts it was discovered that her death was not self inflicted. The killer has not been caught and as far as anyone knows, no one is actually looking but today her name was called with her graduating class and an impromptu moment of silence was held as the Principle feigned searching for the missing student by looking around for her and then calling the next students name.

For us the event ended happily. There was however one annoying little thing. As I stood outside waiting for things to settle down my husband and I were approached by a weaselly little twerp who approached meekly with outstretched hand begging for forgiveness. My daughters first boyfriend. This child caused us so much grief and today I told him that his attitude was shit. We had to get a restraining order in order to keep him away back then. My son had already warned me that this boy might be there. I asked my son if this person had changed and he said "no". He is still a liar and a thief. From what I saw today, he thinks he is pretty damn slick too.

After he went away I found my daughter and made sure she hadn't been disturbed by him. The boy may have convinced another girl that he is loving and sincere but it does not mean my daughter had to be bothered by him.

We left, had a marvelous sushi lunch and wore ourselves out. Thoroughly.

Every time I go to a thrift store I end up buying books. Since I go to lots of thrift stores I think I have a problem.

I do that same thing. I always head to the book area in any thrift store. Thrift stores to me are almost like being given permission to look in someone's attic... I love them and you never know what treasure are there. Maybe I have a problem too. But its a problem I like.

I just can't seem to stop. Right now my small book collection is boxed up in storage because we needed to start some renovating projects, one of which includes building several cabinets and shelves specifically for the books. Between myself and my husband we have true crime, mystery, science fiction, romance, text books and other such things. Some are quite old. 100 years or more. Nothing spectacular just interesting to us. I also have a small but growing collection of antique cookbooks. One of them is pretty rare and it was a hell of a bargain.

I am now running out of space for the books I have bought since the others went into storage! Just today it was about a dozen, mostly older Stephen King as I find his new stuff is horrible.

I will read it all too.
