Yesterday I awoke to no Internet. This has happened 5 times in the last year.
My box was replaced twice. It actually happened enough that I started paying for additional data for my phone so it could be used as a hotspot.
When it happened yesterday I started thinking about an alternative Internet provider.
I texted my husband that the net was down and he responded "don't panic"
Dude, I wasn't panicking. I actually did not care all that much. I hate paying for something that's broken.

I did not realize that babysitting a fish would be so stressful.
Yesterday morning just after 2am we awoke to a particularly nasty thunderstorm. Power for most of our area was knocked out immediately, lucky us ours was back by 7am. We spent the day relaxing, pretty much. Around 4pm a friend in my community asked me if we had power and I told her yes. Hers was still out and they expected it to be out for possibly days but hopefully it will be back today.
I don't know what I am doing.

She asked me if she could bring her betta over and I pictured a pretty little fish in a cup, possibly a little bitty tank. Low maintenance. Initially I thought to put it in my room because we have an a/c in there but she said she had it in the hottest room in her house, so I decided to put it with Kimba in my hobby room(aka Kimba's room)because it has no a/c and gets pretty warm.
Then I found out the fish needs temperatures between 76 and 86 degrees.

FUCK!!!

I don't know what i am doing. They didn't explain it to me well. I moved the fish last night because the water temperature was 86 and I was afraid of killing it. I put it into my bathroom but couldn't plug in the light, not enough outlets.
I hope their power is back before I kill the little critter.

Bettas do not need filters to circulate water per say they are able to breath from the surface of the water they have a special organ for this. They are also tropical fish. The filter is more or less a home for the benefial bacteria to grow that is what is important to keep alive it is what keeps the water perimeters in check and keep ammonia and nitrite levels from killing your fish.

I woke up this morning with pain in my back.
An actual reason to fuck off and do nothing.
As opposed to my usual fucking off and doing nothing with no excuse at all.

I finally got a drop cord to plug my PS4 in. I haven't played any of my games in weeks and I was starting to miss it, especially with the new Dying Light 2 trailer.
I have been slowly working my way through Days Gone. I am not a great gamer, or even a good one. I think I am probably mediocre when it comes to shooting games but I still like them, particularly zombies.
I have a problem though. Unique to this game. When it gets difficult, I get stress headaches. Really bad. Worse when I am trying to rush and I am losing patience.
It didn't happen with any of the other games I played.
Maybe it is because I care too much. Even though I am going through the game slowly, I am utterly wrapped up in the story and the character interactions.

I saw a post that advised against leaving keys in unattended cars and I had to restrain the urge to comment that leaving keys in the ignition when you go in to buy smokes is not consent to steal the car. Instead of advising people to pocket their keys, they should just teach people not to steal.

That is kind of the point. People steal and they will steal. People should, for the sake of caution, take actions to protect themselves and their property rather than relying on an outside source to stop theft from happening before it can occur by enacting social change on a systemic scale.

However, telling a person that they should not have left their keys in the car is victim blaming.

A few months ago a friend of mine showed up at my home unannounced. He had found a dog wandering on the freeway and wondered if I wanted it.
Our dog died in September, it was heartbreaking for my husband who had become accustomed to having a 4 legged shadow everywhere he went. Upon the confession that he could not keep the dog himself and that he had already tried to take her to the shelter with no success, as they only take surrenders by appointment and when it comes to found dogs they generally extend a temporary permit to foster, indefinitely.
I told him to leave the dog with me and we would see what we could do.
She was enormous. A Great Pyrenees.
My son offered to buy dog food and brought over some toys. He played with her that afternoon. We housed her overnight and at some point I realized that she had been bathed recently. It didn't occur to me that my friend had bathed her, I thought he had only just found her. So I posted on my local neighborhood watch that we were housing a dog that might be lost.
I only made the posting because she was clean, people abandon dogs on the freeway with alarming frequency.
I was clear that the dog had a home if no owner was found but if there was an owner I wanted to reunite them.

Still I got a lot of people saying they wanted the dog themselves. Why are people assholes?

I went to bed and the next morning I had a message request from a woman claiming to possibly know the dog.
When I posted a picture I was careful to lead some identifying marks secret. The woman I spoke with had pictures of the dog going back to puppyhood. The marks were clear and she also knew the dog had dew claws, a trait not seen on the picture.

We made a match!
I reunited the dog with her family and that was the end.

Yesterday I was messaged by the owner saying that there are puppies!
Newborn at the moment; half Great Pyrenees, half Rottweiler! Perfect!
She had been grateful to us for being good to her dog and reuniting them so they wanted us to have a puppy, free
and actually the rest of the pus have an appointment to be taken in at our local shelter and her dog is getting spayed in a few weeks.

I have 8 weeks to prepare for a new baby. I am nervous and excited.

Missed opportunity. I was walking past my front door and noticed a small grey cat stalking two birds on the other side of the fence dividing my yard and my neighbor. The birds in my neighbor's yard, the cat in mine.
Then I happened to notice my neighbor's dog DeeDee staring intently at the cat. DeeDee is a very accomplished killer of cats, having been taught by the best.
The moment was photo worthy yet I had no camera in my hand, I left my phone next to my computer when I got a coffee. Thusly I decided to try to convey in words; the moment, two predators each stalking prey. The prey, appearing oblivious, though most certainly not.
Then the moment was broken. Small grey kitty walked away from the fence, DeeDee rushed her would-be prey only to be stopped by a fence, and the birds dispersed.
Life goes on.
