Today has not been a good day for me. My son's friend has been told that she has cancer. They are both only 10 years old. It is very hard for me to to comprehend that this 10 year old girl has been diagnosed with AML--a fast type of leukemia. It has taking a lot of time and emotion trying to explain to my son what AML is and how it will effect his friend. We are going to Vanderbilt's Chidlren 's Hospital tomorrow to visit her. I just hope my son can handle it.

Today my son's friend, Caitlin, got worse news. After the first round of treatment she still has 50% blast and now has an FLT3 which only makes up 5% of AML patients. Her fever is back up too. They are now looking at a bone marrow transplant. My heart is breaking.....and my son, well he is having a hard time understanding.
