nothing but silence surrounds me
in this cloud of incense smoke.
the heat so strong my mask begins to peel away,
revealing to true me.
i try to keep it on with all of my might,
but in vain,
it falls from my tear-stained face.
my gaze pierces through the fumes.
youre standing there watching me;
youre eyes filled with empathy.
you didnt know;
you didnt have a clue of how bad it really was.
my front to the world,
gone.
you observe the figure infront of you,
a broken doll.
face and body scared by years of pain.
the girl you thought you knew never existed.
the tension grows
and you stand with sweaty palms just out of reach.
i turn away and burry my face,
rejected.
you kneel,
closing the gap,
picking up the pieces of the broken doll
and putting them all back together
in a simple embrace.
