Sometimes I don't even know where

this dirty road is taking me.

Sometimes I don't even know the reasons why.

Well, I guess I'll keep ramblin,

drinking lots of booze and lots of gambling.



Its easier than just waiting around to die



One time friends, I had a Ma, and even had a Pa,

They beat me with a belt, if I cried.

The state told my dad to take care of me,

He skipped out to Tennessee.



Said it was easier than waitin around to die.



When I came of age, I met this girl, in a Tuscaloosa bar.

Well, she cleaned me out. Hit it on the sly.

I tried to kill my pain, bought some wine and Hopped a train.



Sayin, its easier than waiting around to die.



Some Friends said they knew,

where this easy money was.

We robbed a man, brother didn't we fly.

Well that posse caught up with me,

drug me back to Tennessee,

Judge gave me three long years,

of waiting around to die.



Now i am out of prison.

I've found me a friend at last,

he don't drink, cheat or steal or lie.

Its name is Morphine.

Its the nicest thing i've ever seen,

together I think we're gonna wait around and die.
