The Ultimate Vampire Resource and Directory

As I was sitting in a room in the ER waiting for the doctor to come see my husband, I listened while 2 little girls and their mother had a conversation across the hall from me. At first it was the normal mother aggitation when her child refuses to listen,, you know,, "Jenny stop it, Jenny leave your sister alone, Jenny if you don't quit I'm going to ground you ... " That kind of thing. I had to smile to myself as I remembered what it is like to have young children and how much they love to test our patience.. However,, it wasn't long before the mothers tone changed and she started threatening the kids.. I tried not to ease drop, honestly I did,, but how can you ignore a lady who is in a violent temper in a low tone but loud enough to hear, tell her kids if they don't straighten up they are going to get the worse beating they have ever had,, one of the girls started to cry.. Now,,, I can tell you, I have said things to my kids to try to calm them or make them understand that this behavior will not be ignored when we get home, they will have to spend some room time, or time out time or extra chore time,, something... The lady continued to speak in a very low tone, but nevertheless you could still hear the anger in her voice and tell that the children where now a little afraid of what might happen after leaving the hospital, for they became quite and calmed down...

The icing on the cake.... The children were talking back and forth and the littlest girl says to her older sister,,,, "Your a cry baby,, you cry so hard every time daddy hits you. He hits me in the face all the time and I don't cry at all."

I could clearly see across the hall into the room.. The mother reached down and grabbed a hold of the little girls arm very firmly and with a look of rage says to her, "Don't tell people that your father hits you. What happens at home stays at home. Do you understand?" On cue the little girl turns around to face me,, for the first time ever seeing her face my heart broke almost in two... Her face was swollen and bruised,, and tiny arms had marks and bruises along with cuts... The mother then looked up at me and made eye contact.. I wanted to kick her ass,,, she don't deserve children....

The doctor walked into her room and shut the door behind him as I continued to follow her stare until the door hid the secrets of what the real story of why the children were in the emergency room in the first place...

As I waited for the testing to get done with my husband this entire thing bothered me more and more.. Am I not being abusive by knowing that a child is getting abuse and not saying something to someone? And yet, I was raised to mind my own business.. How many foster homes are any better?

On the way out I stopped to talk to the doctor that seen the woman and the children and decided to explain what I had heard.. Fortunately he was smart enough to have already put it together and the law was on its way....

Those poor kids... My heart goes out to everyone of them,, everyone of you who have been abused... I wish there was something more that could be done to protect the innocent....
