Ladies and Gentlemen
Herewith i sincerely welcome you to this poor try to lead you deeper into the world of music. Every song of my playlist shall be analyzed and explained on here. You shall find out about my feeings and the reasons why i put those songs on my profile. I hope you wont be dissappointed and that you will be able to learn a few new things.
1. Canon in D by Johann Pachelbel interpreted by Jerry C
This very first song on my playlist really deserves that place. Only a few songs have shown such an inpact and still are unknown to the brought masses unlike songs like mozards for elize or bethooves synphony number 5. Johan Pachelbel is unknown to most modern people and so are his songs. The canon in D is his most famous work although it doesnt represent his style at all its the way Pachelbel remained in the mind of lovers of the classic music. The original version is very complex and played by quartet (3 violins and a bass) and it takes the average listener several times to understand the complexity of the song. it contains dark as well as bright aspects and it seems that the listener is taken on a travel through its own soul and emotions.
There are plenty of interpretations of the song for example by yngwie malmsteen. The reason why i chose Jerry C's interpretations is that he is an amateur and still put so much love and soul into it that you can feel the effort he needed to accomplish his level of skill. The rock version of the song contains more power and energy then the classical version at least for me. When i listen to it my mind opens, my soul is filled with energy and i feel ready to start work, studying, or anything that has an intellectual side.
On the theoretical side you could say that the song repeats a sequence of cords again and again and because of the interplay of the violins and the bass a paralelism is created that gives the song a lot of depths. The chords should be D - A - h - fis / G - D - G - A.

2. Sanitarium by Metallica
In my eyes this is one of their best songs. A long time ago when I lost my sanity it got me through so much. Although the song shows helplessness and a lost soul there is still hope towards the end. Me, a lost being without anywhere to turn for redemption that hope meant a lot. The same time my situation was pictured (although I never was in an sanitarium) and hope was giving to me. The song contains so much power although it’s pretty cold and that power kind of helped me to light the flame inside myself again, that power helped me to rise again and reminded me of a promise I made; NEVER TO GIVE UP. FIGHT TILL I DIE AND DIE WITH MY HEAD HIGH.
Welcome Home (Sanitarium) is the second single and fourth song from Metallica’s 1986 album Master of Puppets. It was inspired by Ken Kesey’s novel One flew over the Cookoo’s Nest. Keeping with the theme of powerlessness of Master of Puppets, the lyrics portray one being trapped in insanity, or perhaps trapped in a mental asylum. It begins slowly with harmonics, which in the song are meant to simulate time slowly ticking by. This eventually leads into the main riff followed by the bass guitar and drums. The lyrics progress and become harsher as time moves on, backed by harsher vocals and heavily disorted guitars. The song ends with several solos and a few lyrics that hint about an uprising in the asylum. Altogether, the song is guided by powerful and moving riffs that give the song a cold and gloomy atmosphere.

Can't help but notice my first comment was deleted. Awkward. Makes me wonder if I shouldn't comment again. You know me though--and I will anyhow.
Anyway, I've just listened to some versions of Pachelbel's Canon in D. First, the rock version you mentioned. It was, all right. Then I found an acoustic guitar version, which pulled at my heart. Absolutely beautiful. I don't analyze the music like you do, but I certainly felt it. A gorgeous, soulful, calming piece that won't soon leave my mind.
Thanks baby. For mentioning it.

I really enjoyed listening to this playlist and can say for the first time ever that I finally found a Metallica song that I actually understood and liked! I realize now I was being biased when I told myself I did not like any music by Metallica.
