My friend and I headed to Dutch Country for the closing weekend of the PA Ren Faire. It is always a fantastic time. This weekend was no exception.
We've been making ourselves known to the cast throughout the season. Especially to a group known as the Rakish Rogues. *swoons* These guys are a riot, not to mention extremely talented singers. We finally brought down the house on Saturday when we wore mini kilts, black stockings, knee high boots, and t-shirts with "Rogues Assemble" strategically placed across the front. They spotted us in the audience and the talk of where they'd like to assemble and scaling mountains began. From that point on we were the talk of the shire. Even to the point that when we were checking in to our hotel for the night another patron looked at us and said, "Fifth row on the right?" Yeah that was us.
Sunday we showed up in basically the same get up but traded the t-shirts for corsets. We walked through the gate just in time for their show to start. We weren't even half way to the stage when they spotted us and you've never seen 6 grown men smile so big. We brought the shirts with us, along with a sharpie, and they were more than happy to strategically place their signatures for us.
At the end of the day we were outside the gates tracking down our favorite cast members and handing out Hershey kisses. I was facing my friend and we were discussing who we needed to give kisses to next. I turn around and there stands Sir Robert Dudley. I gave him kisses, chocolate ones, and then my friend asked him about some ink we had spotted under his shirt a couple weeks earlier. He has a unicorn tattooed on his back and referred to it as his totem. In the four years I've lived here I am the only person I know of that has referred to their tattoos of animals as totems. The reference actually took my friend more off guard than me.
Come to find out she watched him make a detour to come talk to me instead of heading to his place in the receiving line. I'm not used to being the first one approached when I'm with this girl, but he barely said two words to her and locked eyes with me....folks I think I have a crush.
One more voice to be addicted to
My ticket for Dracula's Ball came in the mail today and I have my corset ordered which means...I have a KILLER outfit to wear. :) Look out boys and girls.

State flags will be lowered to half-staff to honor an Alaska soldier who died in Afghanistan.
Gov. Sarah Palin ordered the flags lowered on Saturday in honor of Cpl. Jason A. Karella. The 20-year-old Anchorage man was killed last week in a vehicle accident in the Farah province, Afghanistan.
The governor's office says Karella attended Bartlett High School in Anchorage before enrolling in the Alaska Military Youth Academy.
He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Twentynine Palms, Calif.
I feel the need to write but am finding the inspiration difficult to come across. My heart is heavy this week and yet I don't want to express those words.
Maybe an expression of grief is what I need. While I am surrounded by those who love me here, I grieve the loss of my friend in Alaska alone.
...some gave all.
My heart breaks for your mother, for your brother, for your grandparents, for your aunts and uncles, for your friends, and for me. It is not the natural order of things to outlive your child. We knew when you joined the Marine Corp this was a possibility. I just never thought this war would hit so close to home.
We'll miss you Jason. Semper Fi.
Thanks Morri. :D
Here's the thing folks...I don't think I'm pretty. I don't think I'm smart. I lack a lot of self confidence. I politely accept compliments but don't believe them most of the time. I put on this bravado of confidence hoping people don't see beyond it.
I'm terrified of what's around the next bend in this road of life. For that reason I tend to stagnate or plain self destruct. I know I could hold the world in the palm of my hand if I was just brave enough to reach out.

I think you just did...my hand is just one of more than a few that I imagine will reach right back out to you.
Joli is ever so wise...
...your friends don't compliment you to flatter you or hear ourselves say nice things... we compliment you because we adore you, we recognize all your good qualities and we appreciate you for who you are.
The compliments are sincere and deserving.
Take comfort in your friends. Let their view of you become your own.
And go grab the world by the ballsack. ;)
Indeed both Joli and Birra are so right (well...except for that ballsack thing).
A) You are gorgeous!
B) You are brillient!
Most of the time you DO need to trust your heart...But in this case I think you should trust US and try to allow us to convince your heart and your head that you really are as WE see you.
