Until you look about
out here
you may never know
just what colors
adorn your
when we seek farther
we leave our boxes
for bigger ones
some even have
glass sides
enforced cardboard
notional fortresses
shield us against
what we fear
beyond boxes
across from me she sits
chokes a butt
in her steady fingers
we exchange what could be
glances of amusement or
a study for observable regret
"He really deserved it."
the first thing she said
after a hours time
"I am so stoked,
that we where together."
some how all my
confusion and nausea
faded with her
sinister smile...
something or someone
has crossed her mind...
secretly I am relieved
that it was not me

our boxes are our safe haven, for the concrete mazes of the world we call earth seem to spread like disease and corner us and trap us, for if we look inside our minds can we only escape.

"enforced cardboard

Brilliant and strong metaphor! This was my favorite part of this piece because it is so tightly written.
