I remember

I remember feeling so sure of everything. Everything feeling so perfect.
And now, that's not how it is. Hearts broken, eyes red, tears flowing down my face.
I remember trust, love, caring. Wanting comfort, wanting to give comfort. Sisters always being close.
I remember my sister and me in the basement. Barbie's and Lego's everywhere, most staying where they should be.
Sisters arguing about whose Lego's are whose. Wondering if I can calm things down.
I remember yelling, crying. All past and present. Hiding in my music so I can't hear it any longer.
Always wanting the rain to fall. Causing peace in the house. Everyone just listening and thinking.
I remember the sweet smell of the rain. Pitter pattering on the roof softly. Like a lullaby wanting me to sleep.
I remember time standing still as I fell asleep. My window open to hear the rain, smelling it's sweet aroma.
I remember New York, my childhood.
