Merry meet. Litha, the summer solstice, is the longest day of the year. When it arrives, something of the intensity of this brief, peak moment enters into our hearts. We have only this 1 chance a year to celebrate the glorious, vibrant circle of the sun at it's strongest & most powerful, & the energy we generate during this festival will remain as a warming reminder when the sun begins it's inevitable decline toward autumn.
After today the days will grow stronger, but no matter how brutal the winter winds to come, this moment, this now, is warm & alive. And so we make crowns for ourselves from sunny daisies & other bright flowers, we hold hands & dance in a circle sunwise to honor the circuit of the great, fiery life-giver across the sky. And we give thought to the ways in which each of us shines for the world.
