I think I might lose my mind, and anything in my bowels today....
Appreciation is a quality sorely lacking in the people who enter into my life on a deeper level than just acquaintance. Always seems to have been that way too.
Perhaps I expect too much? I expect people to understand that I too am busy in life, have goals, have things I want out of life in order to be happy, that I too expect a little give and take in relationships.
I too am disappointed when people fall short of my expectations - especially when they set the expectation. But I also realize not everyone will live up to all of my expectations. When people give the best they can, I do my best to appreciate it and recognize them for it.
But why does it seem like so few people can offer the same?
I'm giving you what I can. Oh, you wanted more? But I can't give you more right now. This isn't just about what you want. So now you're going to have a pout and dismiss me saying you want nothing then, ever again?
Childish. You act like a five year old. If you were within an arm reach you'd be spending half your free time on a time-out stool facing the corner.
But don't worry - you're right. There's this type of person that comes into my life. It's not my choice; I honestly open my heart to everyone. But the only ones that want space there seem to have this one over-riding quality:
Lack of appreciation.
Oh, and you can call her expressions of appreciation "fake." At least she's trying. She does what she is able to do right now and I appreciate it.
