20:25 Jun 26 2009
Times Read: 540

If your business has walk-in customers, wash down the front entrance floor and the door handle. For mail order businesses, wash down the mailbox, and so on. Once a week, use this wash to scrub down the walls and floors of your business, making a fresh batch each time.

Mix 1 oz of powdered squill root, 1 oz of powdered yellow dock,

1/4 oz of five-finger grass, 1 tsp. of cinnamon and 1 tbsp. of blessed salt.

Mix well and add two teaspoons of this mixture to 1 pint of fresh water.

This wash is also good for attracting tenants to an empty apartment or house.

19:05 Jun 26 2009
Times Read: 545

This tea recipe came from a lady on Undernet #wicca. I myself have not tried it, so I can not verify if it works. she assures me though that this tea will alleviate your cramps and other PMS related symptoms. As with all herbals, make certain you are not allergic and that it is safe for you to consume them. Before taking anything, you should consult your doctor.

Combine equal parts of peppermint, catnip, and juniper berries brewed into a tea. Add honey as desired. Drink and relax.

Moon Incense

16:14 Jun 26 2009
Times Read: 547

This incense is used in many rituals and is a common spell component. It is an incense of increase that is deceivingly easy to make. Use all of your focus and energy, your will and intention, while making this scent. You may find that this is one of the best powdered incenses you've ever made! It is used over charcoals (the ones specifically made for incense that come in rolls) or over a ritual fire.

CAUTION! Warning! If used over a ritual fire, flames will leap up along the dust trail of this incense powder! There will be sparkling (sparks) of incense outside of this trail of flames as well! This is an impressive effect, but dangerous if you are not practiced at it! Start out small and toss about 1 teaspoon of it over the glowing coals or flames, all at once, don't trail the dust or sprinkle it. Stand away from the fire, and upwind. Use in areas that do not require burn permits, and have something to douse the fire nearby. Do not use if you are wearing gauzy or loose ritual robes and costumes. Be very careful! You are responsible for your actions.

The Recipe

Within the three days prior to the actual full moon, but not after! Gather the ingredients required, along with a mortar and pestle to blend them in. If desired, you can use your cauldron, and some sort of crushing or mixing tool.

2 ounces (about 56 grams) of the finest sandalwood powder you can find

4 grams (a marble sized nugget) of amber resin, NOT the stone! The soft, sweet smelling resin that is often imported from India, available at health food stores, and of course herb and Witch shops.

3 drops of Vanilla Extract. Real vanilla extract is available at almost any grocery store.

Please Note: This recipe is intended for outdoor rituals. If you will be using the Moon Incense inside, use 1/2 ounce Sandalwood powder instead of 1 ounce and increase the amber from 5 grams to 10 grams!

Preferably outside, under the actual full moon, or indoors near a window where the moon is visible: Fill the mortar or cauldron with the sandalwood powder, and crush the amber into it with the pestle or tool of your choice. Use CLOCKWISE or DEOSIL blending motions. Focus on the energy of the full moon, or if you are making the incense for a specific spell, focus on the goal of that spell alone. You can incorporate your favorite words of power or chant while doing this.

When the powder is smooth and consistent, add the vanilla, one drop at a time while saying your chosen words of power, (which is best) or the following (which will suffice in most cases): Drop of moon, grant my boon.

Blend in the drops in the same way you blended in the amber resin. Place the mixture in a clear glass jar with an airtight lid. Keep it away from heat, sunlight, and moisture. Charge it under the light of the full moon on the three days prior to it becoming actually full. The full moon light penetration is the reason for not storing this in an opaque jar. It is ready for use immediately, but can be charged more if desired.

"Bone Soup"

15:49 Jun 26 2009
Times Read: 551

"Bone Soup"

Although this is a Soup-

this was also considered a healing potion many many years ago.

Today it is still considered a healing meal by holistic medicine.

Pirates and Bone Soup

Bone soup was eaten thick or drank thin by sea pirates. Life at Sea was difficult so "Pirate Bone Soup" was made from anything and everything from animal bones, fish bones to even bone and flesh from rats that were living aboard the ships when rations were low. In the Caribbean, they also caught turtle for fresh meat which was sometimes added to soups.

Bone Soup has always had a history of being healing and helpful to the body but in the case of Pirate Bone Soup, it was cooked with the idea to simply stay alive during long sea voyages. Pirate Bone Soup may of carried alot of calcium value from all the stewing bones but there would of been a lot of unhealthy things in the soup as well. such as: diseased rats, close to rottening meat, maggots, weevils, etc. -see pirates

Hard Tack or (better know as Sea Biscuits by sea goers), were eaten along side of stews & soups like Bone Soup. Sea Biscuits were usually dunked or floated on top so it could soak up the liquid of the soup.

Here's what you need

A pot full of any kind of bones will do (beef, chicken, pork)

A miscellaneous mix would be great.

Add your favorite vegetables and potatoes.

You know.... just cook up your favorite pot of soup but make absolutely sure its packed full of bones.

Add your favorite herbs and spices.

Most Important!!!!! The magical ingredient is VINEGAR! You must add some vinegar to the pot of soup in order to force the calcium in the bones to dissolve from the bones into the soup juice.

Just 1 pint of soup can give you as much as 1,000 milligrams of calcium. Wow!

Now let the bones stew for 4 hours or even longer.

Make sure all the meat has either fell off the bones or just starting to fall off the bone before you serve.

Bones had tons of flavor to all recipes!

****************************************

Witches, Healers and Potions

Now..... if you were a real practicing healer or witch....

you would say a spell or prayer with this potion most likely. Also..... the types of herbs placed in this soup would all be a part of a healing potion. Herbs are an important part of modern day witches that we know of today and herbs have extremely powerful healing powers. Spells and blessings placed upon the simmering cauldron would be part of a witches process and a ritual over the caldron of soup would possibly take place as well. Being a great cook is not all there is to it. Having said that.... it must also be said that not all people who have the knowledge of healing by cooking up potions or making salves; are all "witches". If fact, many of them are NOT witches at all but have the gift of knowing what to do and when to do it, but because of this gift that most relate to being mysterious and dark- they are given the title

"they must be a witch."

FOUR THIEVES: vinegar & oil recipes

15:45 Jun 26 2009
Times Read: 552

Four Thieves is some nifty stuff. I am using the oil with good results to date. The Four Thieves vinegar is very good, as well.

FOUR THIEVES VINEGAR: ANTIVIRAL GERMICIDE Possible Alternative for Flu Shots

Herbal lore has it that, while the Plague was raging in France, a rash of burglaries of plague victims’ homes was discovered. No effort was made, however, to apprehend the thieves, as it was assumed that they would soon succumb to the contagion in the homes they had robbed..

The thieves carried on their crime spree for some time, and people began to wonder why they had not become ill and die. It was then that the authorities began to pursue them… to discover the secret of their immunity to the Plague.

Once the burglars had been apprehended, they struck a bargain with the authorities, that they should be set free in exchange for revealing the secret to their immunity to the Plague.

It was then that the four thieves revealed the herbal disinfectant formula that rendered them immune to the Plague.

Current theorists suggest that this formula, now called “Four Thieves Vinegar”, may offer protection against fearsome possible threats, such as the flu, smallpox, and biological weapons, which concern us today, as all of its ingredients are either strong anti-bacterial agents, or have potent anti-viral properties.

FOUR THIEVES VINEGAR

1 part lavender, dried

1 part sage, dried

1 part thyme, dried

1 part lemon balm (melissa), dried

1 part hyssop, dried

1 part peppermint, dried

1 handful garlic cloves

Raw (unpasteurized), organic apple cider vinegar

• In a glass jar, place all dry ingredients.

• Add raw (unpasteurized), organic apple cider vinegar to cover

• Place jar in a cool place and let sit, at room temperature, for six weeks.

• Strain off herbs and garlic, and decant to a glass bottle or jar with a tight fitting lid.

HOW TO USE FOUR THIEVES VINEGAR

• Take a teaspoonful several times daily.

• Add to salads either directly or in a salad dressing.

• For personal protection, add a teaspoonful to bath water.

• Use as a topical spray for disinfecting surfaces and/or skin

ALTERNATIVE FOUR THIEVES VINEGAR

wormwood

meadowsweet

juniper berries

rosemary

camphor

sage

cinnamon

cloves

white wine vinegar

FOUR THIEVES OIL

1 part eucalyptus

1 part rosemary

1 part cinnamon

1 part clove

1 part lemon

Carrier oil (olive, jojoba, or your choice)

Mix

I put 50 drops of each oil in a 2 oz. bottle and then top it off with jojoba oil (I like jojoba oil because it seems to never go rancid).

An alternative recipe:

200 drops Clove Bud Oil

175 drops Lemon Oil

100 drops Cinnamon Oil

75 drops Eucalyptus Oil

50 drops Rosemary

Mix with jojoba oil.

APPLICATIONS:

• Apply 1-2 drops of Four Thieves on the bottoms of the feet and on the nape of the neck.

• Apply under the arms and on the chest.

• Diffuse for 20 minutes or less at work or at home.

A PERSONAL NOTE:

I have used Four Thieves for the itch that accompanied a nasty rash that doctors could not diagnose (where is House when you need him?)… I originally applied the Four Thieves oil because I was worried about possible infection after scratching myself bloody in my sleep. The Four Thieves smarted quite a bit when I first applied it, but, then, miraculously, the itch subsided and allowed me to have a life. Although the rash did not disappear, it did diminish markedly every time I applied the oil.

Dr. John Christopher Plague Formula

15:42 Jun 26 2009
Times Read: 554

8 parts

apple cider vinegar

5 parts

glycerine U.S.P.

5 parts

honey

2 parts

garlic juice, fresh

2 parts

comfrey root concentrate*

1 part

wormwood concentrate

1 part

lobelia leaf and/or seed concentrate

1 part

marshmallow root concentrate

1 part

oak bark concentrate

1 part

black walnut bark concentrate

1 part

mullein leaf concentrate

1 part

skullcap leaf concentrate

1 part

uva ursi, hydrangea, or gravel root concentrate

Mix the ingredients well!

*Due to new restrictions on comfrey for internal use, it is suggested that slippery elm be substituted for this ingredient.

How to make the concentrates:

Each concentrate should be made individually. Start by soaking the herb for four hours or more in enough distilled water to cover it completely. After soaking, add more distilled water so that the total added equals 16 oz. (.5 liter) water per 4 oz. (113 grams) herb. Use a multiple of these amounts for a larger quantity of formula. Using these amounts approximately one gallon (3.75 liters) of the formula will be produced.

After adding the appropriate amount of distilled water to the soaked herb, simmer the herb on very low heat in a covered pan or double boiler for thirty minutes. Then strain the liquid into a clean pan. Put the liquid into a double boiler or on very low heat (uncovered) and simmer (steam) it down to one fourth of the original volume (4 oz. 1256 ml). Only after all ingredients have been prepared should the liquids be mixed.

Do not use aluminum, Teflon, or cracked porcelain. Glass, corning ware or stainless steel or whole porcelain are best.

Dosage: 1 tsp. 3 times a day; or 1 tablespoon every 1/2 hour if infected.

****************************************

Dr. John Christopher had a slightly different story and a variation of the formula that is clearly American, not French. His "Four Thieves" story is that there was a man named Richard Forthave who developed a remedy for the plague that was marketed under his name, a name which was corrupted to "Four Thieves." There might indeed have been grave robbers who used this remedy to protect themselves while they divested corpses of treasures they would no longer need. The King of France had the thieves arrested and they bought their freedom with the remedy they had been using. Thus, the remedy did not fall into obscurity and has been used for centuries since to protect against contagion.

Another Four Thieves Vinegar Recipe

15:39 Jun 26 2009
Times Read: 557

* Lavender

* Sage

* Thyme

* Melissa (lemon balm)

* Hyssop

* Peppermint

* A handful of garlic cloves

Blend ingredients in a glass jar and cover completely with organic, unpasteurized apple cider vinegar, which is available in most health food stores. Cold infuse (let sit at room temperature in a cool place) for six weeks and then strain off herbs and garlic.

You can take Four Thieves Vinegar by the teaspoonful, use it as a salad dressing, or even add a spoonful to your bath water for personal protection. Four Thieves Vinegar and warmed organic coconut oil make an excellent salad dressing.

You can also use it as a topical spray to disinfect surfaces -- including skin -- and/or you can take it as a tincture. All of the ingredients in Four Thieves Vinegar are either potent antibacterials or antivirals!

How to make Four Thieves Vinegar

15:33 Jun 26 2009
Times Read: 559

There are a number of recipes available for four thieves vinegar, but the original was probably something like this:

Use equal parts thyme, rosemary, sage, and lavender. Place herbs in a jar and cover with vinegared red wine. Seal and place in a cool, dark place for six weeks. Strain into a spray bottle or clean jar and use as a disinfectant.

The original herbal ingredients are all strong antibacterial agents, as is the vinegar.

Variations on the recipe add sweet smelling herbs like mint and lemon balm to the mixture. Garlic was also added, and although it was probably an excellent addition from an antibacterial standpoint, it was not one of the original herbs used.
