The newest addition to the Ab Actus, Article 4.

Article 4

1. Honor is something we give ourselves, thus it can not be taken away.

2. It is paramount that we do good for the sake of good, right for right.

3. The principle of a matter is often far more important than the temporal consequences.

4. Without self-responsibility we have no foundation for our own dignity.

5. No matter what temptations or desires may come in the end all that matters is our will. To choose to do right will always make you the better person.

6. Allowing others to determine your actions is to give up all power over yourself, no matter how small the action.

7. To loose self control is to loose honor, dignity and self-value.

8. You worth comes from your integrity, your strength of character and your ability to overcome temptation.

9. Our thoughts shows the make-up of our hearts but our actions show our intent. No matter what you say your intentions were how you act is all that counts.

10. Being able to control your emotions, your actions and your thoughts will give you great wealth in all things.

11. True love may be unconditional but it can be easily wounded with carelessness.

12. The value of your word is how you may judge your worth as a person. To give your word, no matter how small a promise, and then breaking it with relative ease will judge your worth to be small.

13. Recognizing and understanding your faults but then rising above them is how we grow.

14. Lack of personal growth, superficial or deep, will provide a quick path to destruction and loneliness.

15. Never remain content in your accomplishments or level of growth but always be proud of it and then grow beyond it.

16. It is all but impossible to live a fulfilled life if you only follow the path of faith or the path of logic/reason/fact. You must include both in your thinking.

17. Thinking of others before you speak or commit another action will always lower the amount of conflict in your life.

The original "Ab Actus" was written in 2006 and in the last 4 years there have been very few additions to the philosophy as a whole and none to its core. Well, now we will be adding additional verses to the core.

The Ab Actus Prime has 81 verses in 3 articles and with addition of the Rules of Hospitality it covers the bulk of human behaviour. But we, the House of Dalriada, believe that in this world there needs to be more specific articles dealing with topics such as personal honour.

"Ab Actus" is Latin for "the way/moving through" and it's goal has always been to provide people, no matter their station in life, with the knowledge to live a decent life, to better themselves and to rise above. Sadly this world is greatly lacking in even the most basic concepts of honor, dignity, principle, value and self responsibility. So we shall further address these issues.

I am hoping that by Monday (4/5/10) this new addition will be completed.
