ABOUT THOSE RATINGS





A lot of people seem to be distraught at my ratings of their pages. So here are my criteria and system, such as they are. First of all, I think we should just put up our own pages as we like without giving a damn what anyone else thinks, and I wouldn’t even rate other pages except this system encourages it and people ask for it. And if you ask for my honest opinion you will get it.



All ratings are subjective and we all have our own criteria. Mine seem quite out of step from most others. I dislike busy overproduction that makes pages hard to read. Clean, clear, simple, and to the point, please! (Of course, that’s just my taste, apparently a minority aesthetic, and why should you care? It’s YOUR page, after all!)



I loathe false, shallow praise, and believe that compliments should mean something substantial, as should curses and insults. My ratings tend to follow a bell shaped curve. I give out 5s freely and often. Anything above that means I like your page. Actually a 5 means I like it well enough. 10’s are rare and only given to the few that especially delight me. If I rate your page lower it may have something that I consider offensive or treacly and simpering, but again that’s just my taste. Why do you care so much what I like?



As these things are calculated my opinion will have virtually no impact on your full rating, and you can rate me however you like. I won’t complain because I really don’t care. And if you complain or whine I may lower my rating of your page. I am a nosferatu of the old school. Bloody Buggering Baalzebub! When did vampires become a bunch of cloying, simpering children whining for approval from utter strangers????
