It was a dismal night.... and the rain was pouring down heavily... in the shadows, a lone figure was hiding... cloaked in velvet....
Her long dark locks hid her alabaster face... yet her eyes pieced the darkness in searching for something... for someone...
In the street sat a drunkard leaned against a wall laughing like crazy... he murmured something like, "that one sure paid off... heh heh," reached into his pouch and took out some coins... counting them; he started gloating over his spoils...
Hearing the noise, the woman glanced at the man... "well.. well.... what do we have here?" she thought to herself... "easy prey..." she murmured, licking her rosy lips.... she slowly walked towards the drunken figure....
Hearing something, he let the coins slip into his pouch... he looked up and removed his hood... seeing a dark figure coming his way, he yells "who's the...whoa! it's raining!" and starts laughing again...
"May I help you sir?" said the lady.... handing out her pallid hand to the man...
"Help me? hahahaha! Nah; I can get up by myself..." holding onto the wall with one hand, he tries to get up but sits down again... "Hahahaha... maybe not on the first try, hehe, but I know I can!" This time he succeeds; but he seems to have trouble keep standing so he doesn't remove his hand from the wall...
"Let me help you to the nearest inn, dear sir..."
"The nearest inn? Heehee... been there; I guess the inn keeper doesn't want to see me there in a long time!!!" His loud, eerie laughter penetrating the downpour...
"Then perhaps you would want to stay at my abode till the rain stops..." (winking at the man) "and we can talk there... not here in the streets..."
"Harharhar; well... that's not gonna cost me anything is it?" he mockily replies...
"No worries.... I am just concerned that someone might mistake you as a thief here or that you might get sick in this heavy downpour..."
"Mistake me as a thief???" He starts laughing really hard "mayhap it would do me good to get out of this rain though" (taking up his hood again) "Lead the way if you will, hehehehe..."
"Take my hand, old man... you might fall into the mud and I really would hate that to happen..." (all this time, she is looking at him; surveying him in a way)
"Old man hahahahaha!!! I'm really not looking too good right now, am I?" (laughing hard again) "very well..." (takes her arm)
"Let us get you all freshened up at my place so we can talk about what happened to you..." (beneath her cold smile... she begins to feel curious about this man) "Hold on to me tight... we need to go through the alleyway so that nobody will be suspicious of... you..."
"Suspicious of me? Why would they???" (laughing... thinking to himself: "let's just hope this fine cloak isn't all the riches she possesses, hehe...')
