Last night, I had my faith in humanity restored again. Vespers and I spent a while looking a covers of songs people had posted on youtube. A majority of the songs were not all that well done, but with only a couple of exceptions the performances were steeped with feeling. Now, many of the people who had posted videos were actually quite good. But often times the performance was lacking in some way, whether it be in their vocals or in their guitar work (the videos were generally one person playing and singing the songs).
These people with their flawed performances just kept on going, not caring what the world might think. To me and Vespers it only defined more how individual people are immensely beautiful creatures, while people in large numbers are generally terrible.
You could hear and sometimes see the nervousness these people were projecting. It was like watching an embarrassing part in a movie (you either want to stop them before they embarrass themselves or you want to just hug the shit out of them). that was how it was with us last night.
And what a joyous revelation that there are that many acoustic guitar players out there. And it a revelation to me that there are so many people that such confidence that they could share those moments on the internet.
I hope everyone has a great day. The memory of those videos will, I'm sure, keep a smile on my face.
