Transgender Friends

00:01 Oct 25 2008
Times Read: 750

First off, I want to say that I hate homophobes...Hate them with every fiber in my body. What I want to talk about is transsexual people. I believe that they are still being hated by ignorant people, and for all the wrong reasons. These amazing people were unfortunate to have been born in the wrong gender. I have a son who used to dress in womens clothes when he was a child. He is a gay man, and I am extremely proud of him. Sometimes he gives me TMI, but it's ok. lol What really pisses me off is that the trans gender people are still being abused, and are being hasseled about stupid shit like which bathroom they can use. They have to endure nasty comments from people, who, in my opinion, aren't comfortable with their own sexuality. I just would like to see more Equal Rights for the trans community. (and the gay and lesbian community also)I also would like to see people try to understand what they are going through. there are clinics that are 100 % supportive, and the information on the internet seems to be really good. I just wish that everyone would take a step back, and consider what it would be like if you were male (or female) and totally feel like the opposite sex. It's pretty difficult to imagine if you are not a trans gender person. More people need to be sympathetic to these beautiful souls who just want to be excepted for who they really are. There is a Lifetime Movie called "A Girl Like Me" about a (boy) girl named Gwen, who is brutally murdered. It is a true story. If you get a chance to watch it, I highly suggest that you do so. It really makes things a bit clearer. The sad thing is that the boys who killed her were never charged with any hate crimes. This happened in 2002, or 2003. Not very long ago.....I say EQUAL RIGHTS FOR ALL

I so totally agree with you on this...and that story "A Girl Like Me' was local...in the news a lot. That incident really pissed off a lot of folks here. Closed-minded hateful people need to grow up and realize that the world is not just for them.

I can completely agree with you on this. I have several friends that are transgendered and they do not deserve the crap that people gives them for being who they. I have not seen the movie but will find it and watch it.

I support your opinion 100%, for all minority groups that are the target for hate crimes and shunned by ignorant people who have been taught by ignorant people. I am a mother of three and am determined to break the cycle. I teach my kids to judge each person on individual merits. Its disgusting human nature to take some bad aspects and generalise them, notice how Notice of sexual/racial/gender generalisations are never high points.

I believe that as souled beings we should be mindful that our bodies are only temorary digs and that each and every soul has the right to choose thier own path as far as sexuality goes. Love, like our souls is endless and certanly has no rules of gender attached to it.

We have a friend in band that is gay and we all accept him as he is and he is a pretty good friend. We do not judge him, we band kids are just like a big family and we take care of eachother.

I just want to thank those of you who have taken the time to read this. I am glad that you are there, and agree with me. The funny thing is, it has been only women who responded. Hmmmmm, what does that tell you. Mr Man is pretty insensitive...

I am not of the opinion that insensitivity is gender based. It depends upon the issue. I am very concerned about animal rights. But I also eat meat. Your reprints of the horror stories from the veal industry are very informative and I take them to heart. I didn't eat veal as a rule as I much prefer other meat.

Your entries on this subject have made me reject eating veal altogether.
