Earth Bound

I look at the flowers scattered round
And know that to earth you will soon be bound.
I think of the times we shared and how I cared;
With your leaving I have become so scared.
How could this happen to one so young?
I want to cry, but instead bite my tongue.
How long will I remember,
As you lie there close to the timber?
I think of all the years that are now lost
And to your family, what the cost?
Pictures, memories, laughter and love
It folds around me like a worn glove.
Part of me goes with you to the ground
Because of the love we were bound.
Friends and family gather round
Tears falling and hugs abound.
We say the mortal goodbye
And give you to the ground to lie.
Our lives will change so much, I think
For you were often the sibling link.
I am not sure what to do
Please, say it is not true.
The earth is upon you scattered
My heart is now tattered.
For the flowers are scattered round
And to the earth, you are bound.

Driving down the country road
I see the sun through the overhanging trees
The road is winding and narrow
The road falling away to nothingness on the sides
The thought comes unbidden
Turn the wheel
It will be like flying

See how it is a sharp turn right.

I wonder what it would feel like to fly?

There is NO FREEDOM in that

Stop it! Change the thought
