while waiting for a conference call at work, we often drift off on tangents; making small-talk to kill some time. somehow, the subject turned to favorite colors.



someone said to me: Hey, Thoth! What's your favorite color?



and i blurted out: uh...um...BLACK!



and i thought about it for a few seconds. i really do like black stuff. black shoes, black shirts, black belt, black car, black guitars. I remember i liked red when i was little. when did that change?



and somewhere, some geeky part of me felt the need to qualify my answer. Was 'black' an acceptable answer? Are they going to think I'm morose? Before i knew it, i said:

well, actually black isn't technically a color...it's the absence of color and light...uh...so....um... it really can't be a color....so...I like RED. why are you staring at me?



and they were, you know. Staring at me.

they had no idea what i was talking about.



i think i'm right about black not being a color, technically speaking.



sometimes i think everyone is retarded except me.

HAH! At long last! Someone else who "gets" that black and white thing! *dances around the room and trips over a chair* I'm so happy right now I just might weep. Rather than explaining it all out I mostly tell people my favorite colour is clear. You are right. Black contains no colour becaus it reflects all colours. White is all colours because it absorbs all of them. *still breathless*
