I wrote a note for her in
French once;
For the girl, I loved at
the time-
Written to say my
goodbyes.
Though, she never left, just
read it over n over and
fell asleep on a strangers sheets;
Left me all alone.
Alone and alive.
Breathing at the pace of anguish,
before n afterness;
I've not written a farewell since...
Drowning--
He choked on the water,
bubbles
that slipped between the teeth
and boiled the
surface of the shoreline-
Sinking
to settle at the bottom and
age along with the coral.
Leather skin decay until
it pops.
Fizzle smoke-and-mirror trick
until nothing but the
skeleton remains--
Where deep sea creatures make
their homes from the phalanges,
cupped in a silent
beckoning over
broken ribs.
