The Regular

There are moments where

You sit there, amongst a

Crowd of slouching grey,

Your hand extends toward

Your lips Pondering what

Existence is while their

Wrist watches sync for

Morning bread and butter–

There are moments where

You sit there, unsteady

And restless amongst a

Mass of black; your hands

Clasp each other in some

Ill hope that the rest of

You will not fall apart .

You look around in a blink

Of your eyes, now following

A rymth of tics and tocks as

You leave–

You no longer sit where I

Can see you anymore.

No

I do not think about you consistently.

While you stretch your limbs in the wake of a post-rain

afternoon nap I am simply sitting at my desk,

My head distracted by the curve of the screen.

I sit and ponder just how many atoms are working with

each other to produce the feelings I have for people on

a daily basis– I’m thinking of just this, when you smile to yourself,

almost pretentiously.

You think I am a woman without a name, without

a sense of spirit.

Perhaps I am, but still I don’t not think of you as often,

as I contemplate the swell and heave of a burdened mans chest,

Sigh over the brooding lip protruding from his slight under bite;

and still, I do not think of you.

There is a single window somewhere

in a studio off of south third, a

window that swallows sounds–

Shouts of a panhandler, the whistle

of the lonely man in

405 float up and settle on

the carpet with the noonday sun;

The trucks idled below, sunken

Like those ships I’ve read

about a long time

ago; long

Forgotten

Forever lost.

I walked a long time this morning before the sun rose above the buildings in the city I'm currently residing.

I thought about the last time I was in Paris, rooming with a Frenchmen above an old adult theatre; needless to say I don't miss him or the people... But there's something about those old streets that get me going..
