Bastian part 6 final part... final story

02:32 Mar 24 2009
Times Read: 622

A cold sweat broke out across Bastian's forehead as the pain sent him retching awake. It would seem that this had all been his mind dealing with what was happening to him. Through his tear stained eyes he saw the red pool growing from his chest saturating his lap. As he looked forward he saw Emily as she paused in the doorway glancing over her shoulder. The bloody knife in one hand his slowly beating heart in her other. She quietly muttered the words, "I'm so very sorry." At the sound of her voice he sat up eyes flying open. He surveyed the room and found everything in place. There was no blood, no smoke, no debris, no detective and most importantly no Emily. He decided he would need a few days away to figure things out. In the days that followed Bastian came to realize that what he had with Emily was more in his head than in this world. He took the time to get reacquainted with the things in his life he had forgotten about. The smell of the backyard at day break, the feel of grass between his toes, the one thing he could not bear to do was think of her or look at himself in the mirror. He had known from their first meeting that his heart would break because of her. However, the thought had never come to him that he would be the one that broke it. The problem with wearing your heart on your sleeve is that it's right there staring you down when it's broken. He had a long time vow that he would do anything within reason to help those around him. This was the price that he paid for helping her. In the end though they were not together. Emily was a better person now knowing what she deserved out of life. That she was a real person and had every right to be treated as such. Now for Bastian... Bastian went on to help other people at other times. Always remembering his angel. How he nurtured her back to health and she spread her wings and took flight right out of his life.

Bastian part 5

20:09 Mar 01 2009
Times Read: 632

It made no sense. How could anyone have figured out their ruse. It would seem that even the most clever of crimes, no matter how well planned out, were easily thwarted. The images crept back into his mind. He could feel the pain as soon as he started the thoughts. His abdomen had long since been healed. But giving new light to the memories has brought back every ounce of torment. As Bastian held his eyes tightly shut he could hear the voice of Emily's husband echoing through his brain. With every plunge of her knife into his flesh his screams became less and less filled with life. A stream of blood cascading across Bastian's face making his stomach immediately empty it's contents. The urge to stop her, to make this madness stop overwhelmed Bastian. He rushed to her. She heard the loud steps and turned knife in and plunging it into Bastian's midsection. The look on her face, completely devoid of all the luster that had first attracted him to her. The blank look in her eyes, they were glazed over and full of hatred. Blood soaked her face and dripped from her grimaced lips. Bastian, watching her transformed into this new person, dropped to his knees bringing his hands up seeing his own blood dripping from them as everything went black he fell over. "I never dreamed my angel was capable of that" he stammered as he opened his eyes staring blankly through Rosie...
