Bastian part 4

08:30 Feb 28 2009
Times Read: 619

The dust rose from the floor and rushed at them as the door opened. His eyes burned from the tears and the sunlight outside. As Bastian looked around he did not see the inside of the police station as he had expected. The walls were made of logs. Various pictures and a few mirrors adorned the inside framing a dark floor. The only light came from the only sound, a fire blazing bright in the middle of this room. He knew this place. When he realized this was the cabin from his honeymoon he quickly ran into the bedroom to search for her. There she was his angel laying there sound asleep. He yelled for her, "Doll where have you been?" Her response was a disheartening one. "Laying here beside the man of my dreams", she said with a smile. His eyes quickly focused on the form laying under the blanket beside her. His heart filled with love quickly became over filled with spite and malice. Bastian rushed over yanking back the covers to see this man whom he knew he would surely fight. To say he was confused was an understatement. He immediately knew the figure laying there. He was looking down upon himself laying there beside her. As he gasped in disbelief he grabbed his chest walking backwards. It was then that he felt it. His nimble fingers felt a large sharp object protruding from his chest. His eyes immediately filling with smoke. He stopped backing up rubbing the smoke from his pale green orbs. The voice that broke the air silencing the millions of thoughts in his head was one he did not expect. "Bastian, are you alright?" the voice repeated as he opened his eyes. Standing before him was Rosie. She had a concerned yet bewildered look upon her face. She walked back to his side taking him by the arm. "I know this is the last thing you want to do... but we have to do this" He let out a deep sigh and hesitantly continued walking with her. Their steps echoing down the hallway making the trip seem like an eternity. They sat down at her desk and he began to answer her questions about his involvement. He told her about how He and Emily had planned everything. From their first date he had known she was the woman for him. After an eternity of talking Rosie led Bastian to a small room with a large window. "Take your time Bastian and tell me if you see her" she said with a friendly smile. He knew it was her as soon as she walked into the room. Her long dark hair was easy to spot and her smile... oh how he had fallen for that smile. "She's there... number four" he said the words hurting him to say. He reached up touching the glass tears rolling down his face as she was lead out of the room in cuffs. Now more than ever he knew she needed him and he was now determined to be her guardian angel...

Bastian part 3

16:49 Feb 19 2009
Times Read: 628

He let the officer in and they sat down on the couch talking. Bastian picked up a few tissues and continued to listen to the tale the lady detective was telling him. Rosie had been a long time friend of his and as much as he had loved it when she came over to talk this time it was on official business. It scared him to think she would come by for this. Supposedly the thought was some news is given easier when you already know the detective. She had actually volunteered to stay after her shift just to be the one to tell him. "We need you to come down and identify the body." The words kept echoing through his head finding new and adventurous ways to torment and torture him. He gave a nod stood and as Rosie walked him through the door the bright light caught in his eyes. Suddenly his nose was heavy with the stench of sulfur and burnt flesh. He rubbed his eyes and she was gone. As he looked around he realized he was back in his office. He jumped from his chair and ran to the desk outside where his secretary would be sitting. Alas, her chair was empty. Was it true? Was this even real? As he ran through the office building more and more he found noone. As he approached the door to the conference room where he last saw her he gazed inside. Through the large window he saw her inside with someone in a very compromising position. He felt his heart shattering all over again. He was filled with rage and hatred for the both of them. Bastian rushed the door slamming it open looking upon the debauchery before him. His anger turned into confusion. It was him that she was with. How could this be happening? As he stood there perplexed he heard the sound again. The ear piercing silence had returned. He dropped to his knees covering his head as his doppelganger did the same thing. As he felt the last piece of roof crushing against his spine he heard Rosie talking again. "Alright Bastian we're here." He opened his eyes and looked through the car window to see the police station outside the window. All he could do was sit there staring out the window. Was this really where his Emily had gone? Would he find her inside? As much as he longed to see her he hoped that she was not there...

Bastian part 2

17:59 Feb 13 2009
Times Read: 632

The noise filled his ears with such an earpiercing screech it threw his eyes open. No longer standing on the stoop his hands immediately covered his ears trying to drown it out with silence. He finally opened his eyes seeing the flames across the room from him flickering past the crevase under his door. The smoke burned his eyes more than anything else. The smell. Would he ever be able to forget this smell? He suddenly began feeling the water spraying his backside from the ceiling above. Once more his eyes closed and his breath came in exasperated gasps. He found himself standing before everyone he knew the sound of a pipe organ making him smile as he looked towards the back of the congregation. Oh how beautiful she looked draped in solid white her voluptious figure framed in sheer material. Looking up her body he found them again, those eyes. He remembered how beautiful she looked the first time he had seen her. He remembered even more the want to tell her how amazing he found her. It seemed that then as in now seeing those eyes had striken him mute. As she took her place beside him, he lifted her veil. He found himself sick. Her skin appeared to be melting from her face as a tuft of dark smoke became aloof. His eyes flew open and he scanned the room a few feet away he saw her leg. He desperately tried crawling to her to hold her to tell her he loved her. It was at that moment he realized that his legs were caught. Pinned beneath a piece of the broken desk. The door violently swung open. His eyes moving back to it's position. The figure that came in the room wearing all yellow with their face covered. They moved the debris from him and he tried more frantically to reach her. It would appear that both of his legs were broken. The more he tried to reach her the more his body refused to listen. He pleaded against deaf ears for the man in the suit to save his beloved. As he was being drug out of the room he looked at her in passing. His eyes betrayed him and showed that it was not her, at least not all of her. The blood loss had finally gotten to him and as his awareness faded he found himself standing on the stoop with the detective once again...

Bastian part 1

Times Read: 640

Off in the distance dawn was breaking. The sounds of birds chirping and roadway traffic filled the air. Bastian took a deep breath turning his gaze towards the clock a sigh escaped his lips. He had been awake for days. The time had seemed to melt together days into nights into new days. His eyes like road maps matched the darkened crimson walls in his bedroom. His gaze moved downward to the figure that lay with him. Her long dark hair splayed over his chest. Beyond that he could see her beautiful curves nestled under the comforter. Watching it as it would rise and fall with her breaths. He watched with a sense of wonder. This feeling reminded him of being a child and gazing at the world with wreck loose admiration of learning new and amazing things. Just having her in his life had made things seem fresh and new, like he had discovered things that he didn't want to miss. Perhaps this was the reason for his lack of sleep. She stirred a little in response he pulled her closer. He loved the feeling of having her close but could never seem to get close enough. Hearing the chime of the alarm he quickly shut his eyes not wanting her to know he was atill awake. She worried about him too much as it was. She stretched across him hitting the off button on the alarm. She looked at him and smiled, he could never fool her. She gave him a gentle kiss upon his forehead then got up and started getting dressed. As she exited the bathroom she met him on the way back from starting the morning coffee. She smiled as they embraced giving him a tender kiss. As the kiss broke he gazed deep into her eyes... her ever so beautiful eyes. Every time he did it was like the first time and reminded him of how much he loved her. She whispered to him with a gentle blush how she felt hugged him once more then left through the side door. As the day creeped by, as all the time they had spent apart since their chance meeting had taken place, he watched the clock waiting for her arrival. They had existing plans to meet with her family for dinner and he had been ready for almost an hour when the car pulled up. He opened the door with a smile expecting the woman of his dreams. The look on his face was of confusion and shock when he saw the detective on the other side of the door. "Bastian I presume?" asked the detective. To which he replied with a nod. The officer then went into a story the more he spoke the more he felt his heart slowing breaking and landing in pieces within his shoes...

new story part 8 conclusion

18:58 Feb 02 2009
Times Read: 643

As we imprint everyone around us with our thoughts and words so do we imprint everything around us. If someone or something is never given a name how do we refer to them? We all dream while we are awake, is it so far fetched then that something not made of flesh and bone would do the same? You sit at your desk now and make memories things you read and remember, but these things come across a computer screen. Does the computer know about them? Does the processor know that you were crying when you got the news of the loved one that passed? Does a canvas know the beauty that it holds? Many people have asked me about this story. All have been told that it is not my story and I did not know where it was going but it would be a great trip there. I present to you know the lady of the hour. This is the woman who belongs to this story as I have always seen her, as she see's herself suspended for all eternity in this place not knowing why she can't remember people she has never met. For how can a drawing really meet another drawing even if they are in the same book?

new story part 7

18:35 Feb 02 2009
Times Read: 645

As the dust settled she found herself having trouble remembering what had just lay before her. Her thoughts were becoming few and far between mainly focussing on the warmth of her drink and the locket now adorning her neck. "Who are you?" a voice in her head echoed loudly over and over again. As if stuck from some mistakable illness she burst into tears for she did not know the answer to this question. So much of her time and energy of the past few days had been spent trying to figure out what was going on and why she was forgetting things that she had forgotten herself in the process. Or had she ever known who she was? The tears came more frequent at the realization that all she knew was the locket. Were the places and memories real? If they were did they belong to her? Why could she not remember anything? What was wrong with her? She felt a warmth behind her, as if she were being held. She could once more smell the scent that reminded her of him. It was comforting to her. She sighed and leaned back into the comfort closing her eyes. This was it this was what she had forgotten. The sense of longing to remember faded from her as she smiled in complete and total bliss. This was where she belonged in this embrace. It did not matter to her that she had no name, all that was important was that this is where she belonged in his embrace. It is his destiny to hold her as it is hers to be held by him...

new story part 6

17:14 Feb 02 2009
Times Read: 649

Who could it be at her door? Where had the last day gone? As she weirely opened the door she saw a young man with dusty hair holding a small bag and drinks standing there with a smile. He spoke with an accent of one who had been many different places never one for too long. She took the bag and the drinks, sat them on the table in the foyer then turned back to pay the lad only to find him now missing. A light fog on the stoop where he had stood. After the recent events this did not puzzle her nearly as much as she thought it would. She took a drink from the cup. "Mmm coffee" she thought as she took a large sip. She took this drink and the bag back to her chair to try and make sense of the items left on the table. When she sat down, the leather chair comforting her as it had for as long as she could remember it, she reached into the bag. All that was inside the oddly hefty bag was a card from a bouquet of flowers. There was nothing written on the card but there were marks where something had been erased. Her long dainty fingers traced lightly over the indentions making out the words sorry cause suffering and sad with unknown spaces in between. She felt a coldness overtaking her. She moved to the sofa taking the antique afghan from the back of it wrapping it around herself noticing as she did that her clothes were now the ones she had worn to the opera the other night. She smiled laughing until she looked to the table to see her new found objects all but the locket and the note fading into dust in the air...

new story part 5

19:20 Feb 01 2009
Times Read: 654

The silence was broken almost in half by the sound of yelling. She did not understand the words other than to know it sounded like the way the boy used to sound to her but all grown up and angrier. She could not remember his name just that she had called him Al but she knew deep down that wasn't right. As she was looking around the room for anything that would seem familiar, an elderly woman caught her eye. She went over to ask if she had known the young lad or the owner of this cigar that she was now holding. She tapped the elderly woman on the shoulder and she turned around now in a different set of surroundings once more. The feel of this place was dark even though it looked warm friendly and inviting. The old woman looked at her questioningly not sure where she had come from. The twinkle in her eye seemed sinister, so much so that the young lady shrieked and ran for the door flinging it open and seeing the steps outside her apartment in the wee hours of dawn. What was going on with her? Where had she just been? Had she even left at all? The only proof that she had gone anywhere were the dress she wore, the locket now around her neck, the cigar and an apple she just found in her pocket. She shut the door and returned to the living room to collect her thoughts and make sense of these objects. As her backside met the fabric of her faded leather chair she heard a rapping at the door. Looking at the clock as it was now striking six in the morning...

new story part 4

18:09 Feb 01 2009
Times Read: 655

It was him she knew that voice anywhere. She bound from her seat and rushed towards the door seeing him she wrapped him tight within her arms even more tears falling as she spoke of how she had missed him. When the voice spoke again it was different not him at all and as she backed up she gazed upon this form which was no longer her life long partner but was in fact Mr Crawford the mailman. He apologized for coming in but as the door was open he wanted to make sure everything was alright. She stood there confused as to what was really going on. She assured him that she was alright and sent him on his way. She wiped her eyes as she stepped back into the living room noticing a cigar in the ashtray on the table sending heavy smoke rings into the air. Where could that have come from? When she picked it up the room changed now. She had left the comfort of her New York apartment and was now feeling a tropical humid heat waft over her small frame. Her senses told her something was wrong her thoughts now move from the long time love to a small lad no more than seven. She could not think of his name but their adventures together now came lofting back to her...

new story part 3

18:08 Feb 01 2009
Times Read: 656

She fumbled her way down the street making her way back to her residence to find the door at the top of the stairs wide open. She raced inside hoping that he would be there as she could smell his scent heavy in the air. She covered every square inch of her apartment and found nothing but empty rooms. She finally sat down on her couch still clenching the locket the words "forgotten memories" now embedded in her palm. In her mind the gravity of the situation was fully taking hold. How could she have forgotten someone who had meant so much to her? Had she forgotten more than just him? As the thoughts took hold she now noticed that her clothes had been changed and she was wearing a dress that she had never laid eyes on before. Where had this flowered dress come from? Had it been real? Did she actually go back home? The more she thought the more questions she had. After a long silence she heard a noise from the other room quickly reminding her of the open door she had found and left open upon her arrival...

new story part 2

18:07 Feb 01 2009
Times Read: 657

The sounds of the outside world drew even more silent her tear hit the ground with an unmistakable noise sending her reeling for the gift wrapped box that lay before her. As she peeled back the paper and opened the jewelry case inside the shine of the locket illuminated all around her. Upon opening it she heard the laughter of small children breaking the silent night air. She spun in a mad circle to find the cause of this familiar sound to realize she was now in the countryside many miles from the alley she was just viewing. She was so awestruck by what lay before her that she did not notice her clothes had changed or that the cold winter night had given way to a midsummer's afternoon. What she did notice from behind a gaping mouth and wide eyes was a vision of her and her love as children playing as they had long ago. Hearing the laughter as her trembling fingers caressed the inscription on the locket. As quickly as the scene had unfolded it faded away leaving her in her country dress now kneeling in the snow wishing it had never happened that this was but a horrid dream that she would get home and have more messages from him on the machine rambling on about who knows what. Calls she never returned that became fewer and fewer until the day they stopped a few months back. all of the memories she had forgotten were now flooding her head as the tears fell drenching her dress...

new story part 1

18:06 Feb 01 2009
Times Read: 658

The dusk broke and the landscape was slowly devoured by the darkness of night. She felt his blazing stare of fierce eyes from the depths of the alley. The cold breath appeared from between her twisted smile. As she turned to face his stare she gasped slightly for it was not the man she had hoped to see. The man standing before her was one she had forgotten long ago. He was no longer the man she remembered abandoning those years past. He was different now, darker than before like a shell of the one she knew. As the last ghost like vapors of him faded into the wind her tear stained eyes turned downward to a small parcel where his feet had been. It was marked with a simple tag sitting there in the darkness the last reminder of their love. The last piece of their shadowed remains...
