A Vampire's Rebirth: Part 2

My human’s beautiful face was hovering above me, his eyes clear of the hunger, his features showed his love and he was staring at me. Not another woman, but me. Oh how I dreamed of this day, of the day I got my human back and when he would love me once again. I would never let him go this time and I would try harder to keep him as perfect as he is. I will fight for him.

I smiled up at him and he leaned down, his face coming closer and closer…but then I noticed his eyes were no longer green…they were red. His face wasn’t his normal beautiful face; instead he was…a monster. His features were twisted and all I could see staring back at me was the madness that consumed him, the madness and hunger that drove him to force my head to the side. I waited, waited for the pain to come and he didn’t disappoint. It felt like my neck was burning and it was slowly spreading through my veins, keeping me paralyzed. I wanted to reach up and push him away, to grab him and shake him out of his madness, to get back the human I loved and still love, but he wasn’t to be stopped. Soon, I could feel something trickling down my flesh, dripping onto the floor, pooling beneath me….it was my precious life ebbing away as he gnawed at my neck. I could feel myself growing colder and colder, I couldn’t move anymore and the burning stopped…he finally lifted his head and stared at me, no longer love in his eyes. I could only gasp out one word…why? Why would he do this to me? Why would he hurt me? I couldn’t understand as I slowly started to fade. I fought to keep my eyes open, to hold tight to the life that was slipping away from me, that was being taken away from me…by my human.

I came awake with a scream trapped in my throat, unvoiced. It was only a dream.

Slowly, I pushed away the horrible dream, dreams that I shouldn’t be having and focused on my whereabouts because the last thing I remember was meeting a creature that was pretending to be my human. It was rumored there was such a power that existed... a creature like me could portray your greatest desires and lure you in…they were supposed to be the ultimate hunter.

Glancing around, I noticed that I was sprawled in a magnificent four poster bed. There were sheer drapes all around; obscuring the rest of the bedroom I was sure I was imprisoned in. Just then, a shadow passed by the foot of the bed and I froze, waiting for an attack. It never came. Instead, long fingers parted the drapes, revealing first black clothing which I recognized to be covering a torso, then a chest, broad shoulders…but the person stopped there. A voice drifted out from behind the drapes, a voice I recognized immediately. “Milady…Don’t be scared.” He whispered, which only succeeded in making me angry. Me? Scared? As I wondered to myself, I could hear something odd coming from him. It seemed to vibrate from his chest, rumbling up and out…he was laughing at me! Grinding my teeth, I glared at the drapes masking his features and waited for him to show himself. No sooner had the thought crossed my mind, he parted the drapes all the way and I stared at his face: My human’s face.

Once more my thoughts scattered and I felt like my body and mind were shutting down. I couldn’t comprehend why there would be two of my humans…why the Gods would be so cruel to torture me so; giving me one untainted, and the other beyond salvation.

“Who are you?” I couldn’t help it coming out like an accusation, but it did. He looked slightly surprised, as if the question hadn’t occurred to him before, which just baffled me. I’ve never met him before…or have I? Other than the fact that he looked exactly like my human, I’ve never talked to this creature before, but he was acting like we’ve known each other for years.

“I’ve seen you before…” He avoided answering her question because he was forbidden to reveal who and what he was, instead, the curiosity eating away at him was taking over. He had seen her before…in his dreams, dreams that he shouldn’t have been having in the first place because creatures like him didn’t dream. I shook my head at him, scooting back on the bed and attempted to crawl off.

“In my dreams.” He stated, which kept me frozen on the bed. Could it be..? Could –he- be my human? Once again, I shook my head at him. No, my human was exactly that…a human! He wasn’t enslaved to some immortal like me, he wasn’t a mutt, he wasn’t despised, and he wasn’t treated like some…disdainful, disgusting creature! “I’ve dreamed about you all my life and I didn’t know why…until now.” He continued, ignoring the fact that my world was falling apart and he was the destroyer.
