I work with people who are dying . These people have reached their journey's end so its not such a sad thing as when people are taken from us unexpectedly, or are 'young'. Tonight, at work, a little old lady passed away in her chair. It was peaceful and kinda beautiful too because she just closed her eyes.
G'night Nancy.

I assume you work in a nursing home or hospice. I am sure you do your best. It is unfortunate that more are not allowed to remain at home to pass on. My grandmother was lucky, she died in my parents home with my mother, her daughter by her side. I said goodbye and thanked her, for everything she had done for me, a few days before she passed. I have already made the decision that I will not end up the way your little old lady did. There are alternatives.

My job is Palliative Care in a Dementia Unit. The people I look after need specialist care so most of the people I look after, choose (or have families/guardians choose for them) to spend their last days in our Care Unit. The place is set up to feel and look as much as possible, like an ordinary home. Families come and go as they please, so the people who are at the end of their life do usually pass away with people they know around them :)
