your plummeting toward the center of the earth, falling in the darkness, knowing you'll have to open your eyes sometime
look down
your blood has been replaced with shards of glass, you drag your limp corpse around like you have a purpose, like it means something to someone
move forward
there is ice in your chest, thorns in your throat, Mercury in your eyes, sluggish lightning under your skin
deal with it
there are apparitions in your heart, saviors using your body, explosions in your mind, embers in your soul
go with it
ashes engulf your past, rain fills your present, your breath makes up your future, the days bring new thing to breathe for
rejoice
Silver mist beckons
Ink shadows slither forward
Reality fades
Dark splotches cloud the edges of my vision, frigid hands close around my throat, tense and aching as the rest of my being
My heart pounds against my ribs in loud, wet thumps, the sound of it makes me gag
It wont stop, no peace, no light, just the sick thumping, and the hands pushing me deeper under
I shudder, I twitch, I suffer, I wait it out
This icy heart never truly slows, it never has, but I know when it's almost over, just as I know that it will happen again
I resurface, everything is still, I sob in relief at being freed, I should really stop doing that, but it is the sweet rain after the brutal, deprived, drought that makes the aftermath so beautiful, you never know what true peace is until you experience such an excruciating lack of it
When the rain stops, I pull myself back together, ill try to be almost normal today, whatever that means
Their beautiful screams still echo in my ears
skies of sulfur and broken glass kept the despondent clouds away from the earth so that they did not crush us all
a sun of shadows permeates the blinding mid-day, our blisters heal, our beasts stir behind our edacious visiges, tearing their way through our emaciated husks, we are truly ourselves now
