Along the road the darkness fell
Buildings toppled, death toll knelled.
I cast about with bleary eye
Rimed with salted tears I cried.
In the rubble there about
I perceived a small amount.
Of light amid the darkest hour
Muffled cries amid dead flowers.
There an angel lay in mourning
Broken wings in darkness pouring
Tears of sorrow and regret
And we embraced amid the dead.
Not the dead of those deceased
But the dead of innocence.
Of family close who once was held
Now no more to hear our yells.
The angel in her sorrow cried
and in return my tears replied.
Both cut deep by life unfair
both our hearts with bloody tears.
Yet somewhere in that time we held
A miracle was there beheld.
Together we did brave the time
And stood again against the tide.
The angel in her tainted light
The dark avenger reaching high
Together stood in thier embrace
Against the world that they must face.
