Never could a day pass where there could just be peace, he thought sourly as he walked up the cold ceramic steps to his Fathers home. The wind was cold, piercing through his light sweater.
'Definitely should have worn a coat.'
He mumbled, his hands shoved into his pants pocket. He reached the top of the stairs exhailing heavily as he lifted his hand to ring the door bell. Before his finger could make contact with the bell the door swung open and he was pulled into a tight embrace. Instinctivly he reversed the hug, years of training kicked into gear, he swung her arm over bringing his between hers as her body shifted now pushing her back against his. His arms locked her into place, holding her fast against him, only then did he smell her.
"Nelly?"
"What the hell is wrong with you?!?!"
He loosened his grip and she instantly began rubbing her neck and coughing slightly, her eyes narrowed in on his face.
" Havn't seen you in almost a year and this is how you say hi! Shit."
"You should know better than to come at me in that fashion. "
He smiled down at his sister and embraced her in a hug. She smiled as she hugged him back and began leading him down the hall. The steady thrum of there shoes against the wood floors filled his ears, yet his mind raced with a million things. So many things had fallen apart in such a short amount of time he didn't understand how he could even function properly.
"You seem deep in thought,"
He looked over at his sister who watched him with concern. He knew that she was well aware of his situation, he could read it in her mind. He usually didn't read his family or friends mind but he wasn't really in the mental state to block it out today. He could feel how sad it made her that he was unhappy, she felt sorry for him which only made him upset. Her lips parted, getting ready to commit on it no doubt....
" So do you know what this is all about?"
He interrupted her before she could even speak. She got the point.
"No. Father wouldn't say."
"Hmmm, typical."
They reached his study door and she knocked gently with her knuckles.
"Father, Hector is here."
"Come in! Come in!" He herd his father call out.
She opened the door and they proceeded inside. The room had dim lighting, the walls a sand color contrasted beautifully with the chocolate furnishings of the room. Hector walked in the smell of wood and smoke caught his scent, before his shoulders were caught in an embrace.
"It has been far too long my son."
His father leaned in and placed a kiss upon his lips. Hector bowed his head slightly.
" Yes it has."
His father wrapped him in a hug, than pulled away with a look of concern."
"Son, It was not your..."
"That is not what i came here for. You said you needed my assistance and here i am. My personal matters have nothing to do with it."
Answered Hector, his voice thick and deep. He didn't want to talk about this. His father stared at him for a moment, no doubt contemplating wether to pursue the discussion or leave it be.
"Very well." He walked over to his desk and took a seat. Leaning back his eyes were fixed on Hector, yet his face wasn't all that serious. " I have a favor to ask you."
"Anything."
His father smiled, and pushed the button to the speaker.
" Mel, please tell Mr.Alisten to come in."
"Right away sir."
Hectors eyebrow rose as he looked at his father. What the hell was going on? He was two seconds away from asking his Father what was going on before the door opened. In walked a tall rugged man, in his fifties no doubt. his hair was shoulder length but pulled back in a sleek ponytail. His eyes were emerald green which made his paleness all the more noticable. He walked calmly over to Hector a smile across his face.
"You must be the famous Hector. I have herd many great things of you."
He bowed his head slightly in respect and Hector did the same.
"This..." said Hectors father Vincent, " is Alisten Trawfard, a fellow council member of my house."
"Pleasure to meet you." replied Hector in a low tone.
"Alisten here is the one in need of the favor Hector." said his father as he strolled around his desk stopping only feet from the two.His arms at the small of his back, always the impecable posture, thought Hector.
"Of course you are not obligated to accept." Interjected Alisten.
Hector nodded a million thoughts in his min. Sure, he thought sarcastically, who would hear the end of fathers nagging should he refuse. He gave a mental sigh and began setting his mind into work mode. Time to go hunting he thought. Well atleast it would be something to keep him busy.
"Ask your favor."
Alisten walked over to one of the chocolate colored couches in the room and made himself comfortable. Setting his cane to lean against the side of the arm rest he crossed his right leg over his left.
"It concerns my daughter."
Hectors eyebrows shot up, oh god it was a search an rescue mission? Quickly he began to think of who would be able to assist him with this.
"Perhaps you should let Alisten finish speaking before you start making game plans son." chuckled Vincent.
He glared at his father, he knew Hector hated when he would read his thoughts. Then again he figured it was his own fault for not keeping his sheilds up. His eyes went back to Alister who sat with an amused look across his face.
"So what is it you want?" Hector asked, his patience was running thin at this point.
"I want you to train her."
Yup definitley NOT what he expected.
"Why me?"
"You are the best. Not only in your fighting skills but you are honorable, dependable. You fight and take care of your community. These are things i wish my daughter to learn."
Hector was still a bit in shock. He had expected many things to come out of his mouth, but never to train his daughter. Hector was a warrior and proud to be so. He served his community well protecting it both from within and those outside. He took his job seriously and didnt bend for no one which earned him a reputation of being cruel and uncaring. But to him it didnt matter, aslong as the job was done aslong as his people were kept safe he did what was necessary.
" You did say you wished to teach the younger generation in the old ways, this is a good chance." said his father placing a hand on Hectors shoulder.
He looked at his father, he knew what he was doing. Sneaky old man, he thought. Trying to coax him into agreeing without him actually telling him to do so. Did he really want to do this? Didn't he have enough shit to deal with besides training some little girl. Than again if he refused and let someone else teach her and something went wrong, well he wouldnt be able to live with himself.
There was a long pause as he contemplated his choices.
"Well, what do you think?" asked Alisten, you could feel his anxiety in the air.
"Alright. Ill see what i can do."
"Excellent!" exclaimed Alisten as he rose to his feet.He clapped his palms together with a smile across his face. Alisten and Vincent began walked towards the door in unison. "Than let us go find my daughter and tell her the good news!"
Hector was following in step behind them when the information caught his attention. Hie eyebrow cocked and he momentarily stopped.
"Your daughter is here? Why wasnt she present than during our meeting?"
Vincent and Alisten exchanged glances and Hector instantly knew they were keeping something from him. He knew what he had to do, and even though he had a pretty good feeling it wouldnt work he had to try. He silently thanked whatever higher power existed for having years of practice in his mind reading capabilities and it took him only a few seconds to slip into the mind of his father. He shifted through truly useless information until he caught a peek of what he was searching for, only to have an iron door slammed in his face.
"Hector!"
His eyes locked onto his fathers face which was a mix of disappointment and amusement.
"You should know better than to be so rude!" he chastised.
"Yes, i should. But you should also know i do not like things being hid from me."
Alisten walked over to stand beside Hector, wrapping his arm around his broad shoulders a sly smile playing at his lips.
"All will be revealed in due time dear Hector. You needn't rush the information." Alisten put forth a small amount of force so that they began walking together, Hectors eyes still fixated upon him. "Come, let us find her."
There went his mind again. What the hell were these two old bats playing at? Good grief they weren't going to introduce him to a 700lb woman and expect her to become a class A warrior in the course of a month were they? his mind chugged along these same tracks as they walked down the hallway, completley oblivious to the conversation going on around him. What if shes deathly old? They round the corner and after a few short steps he was stopped.
Snapped out of his daze he glanced up at the two men.
"There she is." said Alisten his eyes looking down to the first floor.
Vincent chuckled, "Hasnt changed much has she old friend."
Alisten drew in a heavy sigh, "I'm afraid not.."
Hector finally turned towards the banister, his fingers tasting the mahogney wood as his eyes made contact with a beautiful woman. That cannot be her! Stated his mind. She was far from the warrior type. He couldn't get an exact view of her but from where he stood she was relatively short is stature, with long wavy black hair which played at the middle of her back. Her legs were shapely and thick, made his mouth water, a tiny waist which lead up to a slim chest and oh my he could definetly take a bite out of that neck. Her face was slender, supple little pink lips, a thin nose, but what color were her eyes? He needed a closer look.
"Let us go down and great her shall we?" He said as he began walking down the steps.
Her scent caught his nose and the beast launched at his control, and he fought to keep it at bay.Her scent continued to entice him, the sweet smell of vanilla and honey clouded his mind. His eyes burned with want, he would have her. She would be his.
'' Chapter 2''
She always enjoyed her trips to Father Vincents home, not only was he like her second father but she loved being around her kind. Unfortunately For the past few years she had not had the luxury of spending as much time with her family as she desired. She had been working on her career, working to keep her day side in working order so that she could finally put her time into her Community.
It seemed there were many things going awry in there community she felt as a part of it she should do whatever she could. So she had talked her father into letting her train as a warrior. It took a long couple of months for her father to finally accept her choice and decide he would aid in her finding of a mentor. Well honestly it was his condition to agreeing, he said only if he found her teacher would he be alright with the decision, so it seemed a small price to pay. So now here she was catching up with friends and family she missed dearly, hoping her dad would be able to convince this teacher to train her.
"We definetly have to go out tonight! Catch up on everything! Its been so long since i've seen you doll!"
Oh crap! She completely forgot she was in mid conversation with Jayson. Quickly she focused her mind to the conversation and smiled.
"I don't see why not. I havn't been out and had some real fun in a long while."
Her hands stuffed into her front pockets she took a deep breath. She could smell the wood, Father Vincent did have a fascination with different types of wood. The lingering smell of perfume and cologne from those who passed by.
"Wait......is Tanya pregnant?" she asked as her eyebrow cocked.
Jayson looked surprised as his eyes rounded. "Yes she is. But how the hell did you know that? She isn't even here?"
"No but she walked past here recently, i can still smell her."
Jayson stood a bit startled than inhaled deeply. "I don't smell her..."
She giggled softly "It dosn't matter."
He looked a little doubtful so she just smiled and wrapped her arms around his waist to hug him. "So how have things been around here? Ive been gone far too long."
"That you have little one." She looked to her left to see Father Vincent walking towards her with a smile upon his face. "But now you are here and that is what matters."
She smiled back and rushed towards him so he could wrap her in his arms. She hugged him tightly, she had missed him so. He pulled back placing his hands on either side of her face and placing a kiss atop her forehead.
"How have you been father? it has been so long!"
"Nothing much different little one. Still on the hunt for a fine young thing to take care of my old ass. Have you had any luck in the search?" he teased.
She laughed and hugged him again."Yes i have definitely missed you."
She pulled back and looked over to her father who stood beside a all man.
