Sometimes I do miss visiting with your crazy ass.

Good lord! Sometimes I wonder where in the hell some of these people come from!!

It took us all day to hear the news, but it was good news, so I won't complain....much!



Our appt. was at 10:45am and at 12 noon, the nurse comes to tell us that the doc has been called to emergency surgery and will not be back in the office until about 1:30pm. Of course, my son doesn't want to come back at that time, he wants to get home, but if we reschedule, it will be a month and a half before he can see us again.



I opted for the 1:30. I drove 2 1/2 hours and waited 3 wks for the appt. What was another hour and a half!



We spent the time visiting with my son's step-sister. Shes adorable! She was born 2 months premie and weighed only 3 lbs at birth. She's up to 4 pounds and will be released when she can put away 8 bottles a day. We didn't have much time, so I didn't ask how many ounces were in the bottles, but I'm guessing no more than 1-2 ounces. Her hands are teeniney tiney!

Her foot is not even as long as my index finger and her tiney fingers didn't even wrap around my index finger. It was great to see her, I'll tell you more about her when I get more news.



Back to the doc's office we go. I'm already running late, shit! Oscar's gettting ticked off because he didn't want to stay in the first place. Our little town doesn't even know what a traffic jam is. I underestimated the traffic in Houston. We were only 8 minutes late and that included parking (that's a bitch) and getting to the building.



So we get there, and we wait (yes, again!). At 2pm, we're called in. All test results and all preliminary exams show that the tumor has not returned (very big sigh and whewwwwww). We have to have a CAT scan done to be sure, but we can do that closer to home and have the disc sent to the specialist.



He's no longer pissed off about the wait. I think he was more nervous than I was. We stopped at our favorite fine dining facility. The Whataburger off of the Grand Parkway exit, just outside of Sugarland has THE BEST Whataburgers!



We sat and talked about Homecoming, his girlfriend, school work and work that needs to be done around the house.



I sat and just looked at him. My son is 17 going on 18 and he's such a big man (when he's not pouting, of course). I don't know if there's ever been a time in my life when I've ever been prouder of anything I've accomplished.



Blah...I'll get myself teary eyed AGAIN! I'm such a wuss when it comes to my kids, and they know it!



The main thing here is he's good to go! No more tumor, no more surgery! I'm a happy camper today.

It really doesn't pay to be a loyal employee anymore. Sixteen years I've been with this department, you'd think that at some point, I would be the one to wise up and see that they are looking out for them and no one else.



I asked for my comp time to be paid out to me. The written request was put in over 2 weeks ago. The department is under a budget crunch, and I totally understand that. What I don't understand is giving your employee the impression that a check is forthcoming when it isn't.



I left that request with my 2nd in command and the bastard told me he would take care of it and that I shouldn't worry. Ok, so I should have known right then and there not to trust his word, but I did.



Today, I'm told the check needs to be approved. The committee meets on Thursday and their agenda is set. My request isn't on it and they don't take addendums.



The word fucktard comes to mind. Hell, I'd probably use it to describe him AND myself for believing him.
